My advice is to start with half or less than half doses. For example, if you're using the powder start with 1 teaspoon instead of 1 tablespoon (which totals 3 teaspoons). Work your way up to a full dose.
This product is not a fiber supplement but it's great for encouraging regularity and consistency - Colace. A stool softener. Comes in adult doses (100 mg), or Pediatric doses (50 mg), a little hard to find, Walgreens and CVC stocks the 50 mg but Kroger's does not. However the Kroger Pharmacy will order the 50 mg for you, it's an OTC item. The pills are capsules and cannot be split. That's why I mention the 50 mg. My system seems to need two 50's, spaced out over 12 hours, instead of one 100 mg pill a day. Odd I know, but most of us have touchy GI tracts around here and I mention this in case you'd find that two 50 mg pills a day would help you too.
Also, if you decide to try Colace, buy the name brand, not generic - generics contain sennasides, which is a highly potent irritant to the colon walls. I got off track once and bought generic and my gut was heaving and rolling, something awful. I discovered on these forums that you want to reduce all this heaving and rolling, a person needs to avoid sennasides or senna at all times. My gut calmed down after going back on the name brand Colace. Learned my lesson that time!!!! I usually buy a lot of generic medications and products but when it comes to MY GUT, name brand seems to be best.
Good luck.
