A little backstory, I've had bowel issues on and off for years. I already knew my mom had IBS but my sister was diagnosed with UC last year so I finally decided to get myself checked out 2 months ago. My colonoscopy came out clean so the gastro doctor diagnosed me with severe IBS but didn't put me on any treatment.
Fast forward to now. I haven't had a solid bowel movement in 3 weeks. 2 weeks ago I had a stomach virus and had some diarrhea with that but nothing else since then. I've been on Miralax for 4 days and tried taking a single dulcolax last night to speed things along. Now if I try really hard I can pass some gas or an extremely small amount of liquid stool but I can't get any relief from the stomach pain. When I'm just sitting down, the stomach pain is only a 3 but if I try to use the bathroom, it goes up to 7 or 8 of shooting pain.
Is it possible I have a bowel obstruction or just really bad constipation? I don't want to go to the ER unless I'm sure, especially since I'm not have constant severe pain.
The meds I'm on are topamax, zoloft, and lo loestrin. I just started the lo loestrin because I'm switching off Nuva Ring. I don't know if it makes a difference or if this could be a side effect of any of these meds.
EDIT: I have something new to add. The small amounts of liquid stool I'm having now look like coffee grounds. Has anyone else had an experience like this? I want to know if I should just ride it out or call the gastroenterologist.
