Five days ago I had a solid bowel movement followed by 5 hours of having the urgency to go poop but nothing really coming out. I would get the urgency about once an hour and by the 2nd or 3rd hour the only thing coming out was a mucus mixed with blood. During the 5 hour process I sat on the toilet about 5 times and by the 3rd time it was extreme pain feeling like something was tearing as I was pushing.
Since five days ago this has now happened three times (with the third time being today) where I have a solid bowel movement (no blood, no pain) followed by a number of hours of feeling like I need to go with nothing coming out. After the first episode five days ago (Thursday) I did not go until Saturday which was another episode, and then after Saturday I have not had a bowel movement until today (Tuesday). Today I had a normal bowel movement but having the urgency to go again within an hour of the bowel movement.
Yesterday I saw my family doctor who did not have too much to say and today I'm seeing a GI specialist. Since five days ago I've been very careful about my diet, mostly sticking to the B.R.A.T. diet because initially I thought this was a stomach bug. At no point through this process have I had any diarrhea. I have dealt with hemorrhoids for about 15 years and have had minimal bleeding throughout the 15 years however nothing like 5 days ago. Additionally my stomach feels weird when I'm digesting food, with a little bit of cramping.
Lastly, there is history of GI issues in my family as my sister and brother both have IBS. My sister was diagnosed with colitis a number of years ago however she was only on medication for a few weeks. I'm a 35 years old man and have no prior history of GI issues. I posted this in the Ulcerative Colitis forum as well.
