I was told to avoid using magnesium, instead to use fiber supplemets and add more fiber to my diet as well as an appropriate probiotic (some strains can cause C and some can cause D from my understanding) I also drink a small glass of prune juice and take a teaspoon of extra virgin olive oil daily, this entire combination seems to be helping so far. I've been having less issues with severe straining as a result. Regular daily exercise has also helped.
