Hello,
I'm a 27 year old female. I have been suffering from lower abdominal pain since 2008. I have been diagnosed with GERD, IBS, a gallbladder that works at 40% capacity and Hashimoto's. I underwent a laprascopy 2 years ago to find a source for the pain. The surgeon found adhesions all over my abdominal walls. The reason for the adhesions is unknown as I have never had any abdominal surgery previously. The adhesions were removed but the pain still persists. There seems to be no rhyme or reason for the pain. I have kept a food journal and it also seems unassociated with my menstrual cycle.
When the pain begins, it feels like a dull ache and then explodes into full blown, debilitating pain. My stomach becomes very distended and the pain worsens with any type of movement. Having a BM also makes the pain excruciating. The only relief that I get is when I sit very still with a heating pad. Motrin will sometimes provide a little relief.
This past bout of pain started 2 days ago and is still very intense. I threw up last night because the pain became so intense and nearly passed out.
My gastro said that pain is commonly associated with IBS and that I should take my dicyclomine and it should help. The medicine has done nothing and I'm still in agony. I have been to the gyno, the ER and the gastro and no one has been able to provide relief from the pain.
Does anyone have similar symptoms? What do you do to get some relief? What is your diagnosis? I can't get any relief and this disrupts my life; I miss work and normal everyday activities. This cannot be normal!!! Help!
