I seem to get intermittent pains in my colon area with my IBS sometimes I feel them in the front and sometimes I feel them in the back . The reason I assume their gas pains it's because they come in different places and don't last that long but I'm always worried about colon cancer. I don't have any blood or black stools but I have had on and off constipation lately. Are used to be very regular even when I had IBS flare ups in the past but lately my bowel habits of chain with this recent flareup and with the health anxiety I've always had I'm sure something serious must be going on and I'm terrified to go to the doctor and find out. I need to know if anyone else has these issues. Thanks

Please don’t worry that it’s cancer. IBS can cause either/both diarrhea and constipation. Have you increased your fiber for your IBS? Metamucil is the best thing to use. It can help both IBS-D (with diarrhea) and IBS-C (with Constipation). Deal with your fears through education. Check out info on this site, go to webmd.com (Mayo Clinics Web Site) and search for “IBS”. It will really clear up your fears about new symptoms. Your Doctor can then answer any questions you still have.
