I have gallstones and IBS, and i have always had problems when i eat food, no matter what kind

i usually get a horrable stomich ache fallowed by me having to go to the bathroom immediatley, but not diareah.

The other day (and 1 time possible in the past), i got a HORRABLE pain in my stomich, i mean, mind numbing severe pain(more than the usual horrable pain).

  And at first i didnt have to go to the bathroom, and then about 5 minuites later i tryed again, and i went, but alot (bowel movement).  But i didnt have diahreah, but i went continuously for about 15 minuites, which is really rare, i dont think ive ever had that before.  But when i got up i looked in and saw that it was all green, a really really dark green color, and i havent eaten ANY kind of green food in about 5 days.  It really weirded me out, and im not sure if this is normal or not,or just one of those things. As well, later that night i got another stomich ach and went again, and it was a normal color, but had kind of a black part in it.  And the black bit looked like a total different consistency.

Is this part of IBS or Gallstones, have anyone ever had this before?

I know its kind of a gross question, but i really need to know because its really weirding me out.

Hi Josey- I too have pooped green and I can tell you that with me, green signals only something different i've eaten or drank.  Certain colors of food coloring gives me the ol' green stuff (i.e.- purple koolaid, purple gatorade, blue gatorade).  The black feces you will want to check out with your PCP or GI MD.  I dont' know about gallstones and colored fecal matter so I suppose it could be possible.  Good luck.  I hope you find some answers. But have an exam asap just to make sure the black is normal. My GI, who is wonderful, does a real fast - like you blink and it's over- rectal exam.  That's important too.

ya,i have a great GI md as well,
i know what you mean about eating colors and it ending up that color, which is why i mentioned that i literally only ate oatmeal for breakfast, chicken breast and plain pasta for dinnner, and a rice crispy square, for about the past 3 days, no green food at all!
but ya, i agree about the black, ive heard that black can sometimes mean infection, has anyone ever heard of that?????
but i am going to go to my gi next week, so ill mention it to him then.

Josey,
Black stool can be caused by upper GI bleeding... possibly from an ulcer or IBD. Also, Pepto Bismol causes black/dark stool.
Don't worry about asking embarassing ?'s - that's what we're here for. :-)
Good luck with the GI next week! Please keep us posted on the outcome.

Bile--from your gall bladder--can be green. Mine was always bright yellow, like neon yellow, but some people can have green.

Black is not normal, but if you take Pepto for your stomach or the diarrhea, it can turn your stools black.
