After waiting a long 3 months within the healthcare rollercoaster, I finally had my procedures yesterday. I was under conscious sedation and don't remember much after they numbed my throat in prepearation for the endoscopy. Apparently after they got me in the room, I would not stop talking because I was so full of anxiety. They told my husband that they gave me enough meds that would knock HIM on the floor (twice my weight) & they still couldn't get me sedated. It was a quick procedure & recovery wasn't bad at all yesterday. Also, to anyone wondering about
having your usual abdominal pain during the premedication the night before, I go through a lot of pain & didn't experience any during the prep.
I took it easy on eating yesterday & made sure to choose light foods. I have advanced to a "normal" diet today & still feel crampy, but no big pains. My question is, how long does it take for my system to return to what is normal for me? I began eating lunch yesterday & now it is midnight where I am (after a full day of eating) and I haven't had any bowel movements. Now, I know I am thankful that I have had a break after the suffering before the procedure, but I was just wondering what was the usual timing of the GI system eliminating waste post-procedure. Can anybody relate?
I go back for the biopsy results in a couple of weeks, but during the procedure itself, they found nothing which doesn't surprise me.
