Hello, I don't know if anyone can help me  but any suggestions would be helpful.  I had surgery 7-17-2006  a month ago, for diverticulits.  I had bowel resection, patholigist report said I had a previous rupture and a abcess at time of surgury. 

  I am so constipated.  Worse that prior to surgurey.  Taking 8 fiber laxatives a day, dulcolax, suppositories and enemas.  Nothing is moving.  Doctor says it could take 2 months before I a regular.  In the mean time I am losing my mind.  I look forward to hearing any replys.

Did you doctor tell you that you would need to be on such an intense regimen of laxatives in order to have any bowel movement at all? That seems like an awful lot, even after a bowel surgery--especially one from a month ago. Make sure that it's okay for you to be taking so much laxative; the fact that you can't go may mean something went wrong with the resectioning, you had more intestinal damage than they originally thought, etc.

Out of curisoity, are you still on any pain meds? Certain pain meds can be very bad to constipate a person.

I went to the Doctor yesterday,  He only wants me to take the fiber laxatives (8 a Day) and I have been drinking 3 liters of water a day trying to get them to work. If constipation is really bad.  For that he gave me Miralax which I took a dose yesterday  with no results yet.  I have been off of pain meds for 2 weeks.  I knew they could constipate me.

Maybe you need 3 liters of prune juice a day!

I hope things get to moving and normalize for you.
