I started taking acidophilis a few months ago because it's supposed to be beneficial for your immune system, at the time I didn't even consider it might also help relieve my IBS symptoms but it did. Since taking acidophilis and or eating natural yogurt everyday I haven't had even one bout. Another friend of mine recently emailed me out of the blue telling me how she had started eating that new Activia yogurt and had also had great results. I don't know if this will help every case of IBS but it sure has helped us.

I have crohn's disease and IBS and my gastroenterologist suggested I take Flora-Q, a mix of probiotics. It has helped a little but is is kind of pricey at just over a dollar a pill. I take it every two or three days and still get a benefit from it. The capsule is supposed to survive the stomach acid and make it to the intestines where it releases.

I eat 1 Activia yogurt daily. It does wonders. Acidophilus is great too.... You just have to watch for gas when you first start taking it.
Thanks for sharing, mahinamoon!!
