Severe Scalp Itching

 I'd like to know it anyone has experienced severe scalp itching.  I have suffered from constipation and migraines ever since I can remember.  I used to take all kinds of laxatives and pain-killers for my migraines.  Six years ago my entire body began itching and when that went away my scalp started to itch and it has been itching ever since.  As time went on it started to itch more and more.  I went to every dr. imaginable and took all kinds of medications, both orally and topical.  I had every kind of treatment done; western and alternatives.  I was willing to try anything and spend whatever I had to just toget relief.  Absolutely nothing worked.  My sister recently went on Zelnorm for stomach aches and suggested that I try it.  After a visit to the dr. and requesting Zelnorm I finally am getting relief.  The very first time I took it, my itching was relieved after 1/2 hr.  I am supposed to take it twice a day (6mg. each pill) but I have to take it 4 times per day.  I am so desperate that I take it every time the itching starts.  It's been a miracle to me.  After re-visiting my dr. I was told to try just taking 4 pills a day (3 mg. each), because my dr. was worried about toxics.  The 3 mg. aren't working as well.  When I first started to take Zelnorm, I had D and headaches but that soon seized.  My stomach does get upset and I am dizzy at times, but I'll take it.  I was losing my hair from scratching so much and was so frustrated because I couldn't keep my hands off of my head, especially in the evening.  I am thinking that this is maybe a digestive problem or something.  Again, has anyone ever heard of this?  Thank you.  Kendal

7Lil, Thanks for replying to me.  I have been to every dr. imaginable and have tried everything.  After 6 years of many different drs. and many different medications, both topical and oral, the drs. decided that it was not topical because absolutely nothing worked.  I was on allergy pills and shots for 5 years and it didn't help at all.  I have been to 4 Dermatologists and we have changed everything, shampoo, hairspray, deodorant, etc.  Have even tried not using products on my body.  Please believe me, if it's out there, I've tried it.  The drs. are amazed that the Zelnorm is helping me.  One of my dr's. says that there are nerves in the stomach to relate to the brain and Zelnorm is relaxing these damaged nerves.  I don't know it's a mystery to me.
