hi going for my first colonoscopy,today

i took the prep pico-salax,how do i know if my bowels are clear

i took the pico-salax yestreaday, when i had a bowel movement this morning a clear water and light brown string came out

do you think my bowels are clear

Welcome to Healingwell!

Your bowels are clear when only clear liquid is emerging from your rectum. It's like urinating from the wrong hole (sorry, that's graphic & gross). I went to the bathroom at least 30 times and maybe the last 10 or so were clear liquid.

I did have some coloration to my water after taking my laxatives, but then I was producing too much bile and frequently had yellowish bowel movements. If you drink something colored (although I've always heard you shouldn't drink anything red or purple or orange in color before your test!), that might color your liquid too. But it should be nothing but liquid.
