Hi JustK- Nausea was my main symptom for the bulk of the time I've had IBS. I mean, in the beginning, I could barely choke down pepsi or gingerale. It totally sucked. No one knew what was going on. I did and still do get the D but also get pretty constipated. However, the nausea nearly killed me. I lost 24 pounds in 3 weeks. I am now back to a normal weight. It has been over two years. I have had a gatric emptying scan, abdominal ultrasound, pelvic ultrasound, barium swallow, endoscopy and a colonoscopy. Technically, there's "nothing wrong" with me. I was crazy- I didn't know what to do. What i hated even more was that people would look woefully at me and tell me I was anxious. F that. I wanted to say, 'People, I can barely stand up here'. I was actually initially diagnosed with 'chronic nausea'. And the GI at the time said, 'well, you're just gonna have good days and bad days.' Great. The recovery thus far has been slow but I've learned a lot on this site and people have been very kind. I read 'Eating for IBS' and 'Surviving the First Year of IBS'. I've done the 100- day hypnotherapy program designed for IBS and i have been doing acupuncture since Sept. I will soon be posting my experience with both the hypnotherapy and acupunture as both have been tremendously helpful. Good luck and hope you feel better.
