I've tried to resist chiming in here, but oh well....
I take after my father. When I was a child, my "normal" schedule was about
3-4 days. I felt fine and never thought anything of it. Once in a while mom would dose me with Castoria if I hadn't gone for a week, but daily BMs weren't an issue in my family. I've had plenty of docs tell me that everyone is different. While once, twice or even three times a day is normal for one person, another person could be normal with every 3 days.
Back to topic, once I started having gastro problems, I think the longest I went without was 3 weeks. I was partially obstructed and it just couldn't make it's way to the outside world without a whole lot of laxatives. To this day, even with daily softeners (colace) I might go over a week with nothing happening.
Friendly - have you investigated any of the OTC remedies like mag citrate or phospha soda? They work by putting water into the colon to soften the stool and whosh it on out. If you've only gone "a little bit" in a month, you gotta do something!
