Hello everyone,

Hope I'm posting in right area.  Looking for info about enlarged and reduncant colon. My daughter just found this info out after some extensive tests.  Doc says nothing can be done.  Gave her pills and also said probably won't help. Very negative responses from him-says she will have to live with this-also  indicated that seeing another doc (specialist) will probably tell her same thing. She is very depressed about news.  Also experiences bloating and gas and is very embarassed. We are wondering if there are any options for her -medication? surgery? ?????? Would appreciate anyone giving us info.  Thanks- devastated in Canada confused

Hi charliegirl, Welcome to Healing Well :)

A redundant colon is when your large intestines are elongated and because of this can twist and turn affecting digestive and bowel function. Longer transit times are expected because of the effort of digestion. Sometimes there is no effect and a person can live their life never knowing they had it until they get their first scan or scope. Fiber therapy is important from what I hear for people with a redundant colon. Surgery is an option however ususally the last result when complications are noted. There is a slight risk for complications that can be serious so you need to keep a communication line open with her doctor.
