After 4 years of chronic pain and every test possible I'm still left with a diagnosis of IBS although I still feel it's something more.  I swing from C to D on a regular basis but my worst symptom is the constant abdominal pain ... mostly right sided.  My question is what type of pain do you guys experience in the abdomen?  Is is crampy, constant, sharp...

I don't have any abdominal pain.  It just feels like sand paper in my back.  It will switch from my left side and sometimes its my right side.  It feels like it burns sometimes.  Especially on my left side and the gas will just rumble on that side.   I've never had any abdominal pain.   Now the other night I must have had a bug or something because I woke up and it felt like all my supper was sitting at the top of my stomach and I kinda felt nausea.

Hey Softy,
I only have abdominal pain when I'm in the middle of a D attack. Usually it's just cramps that go away after using the restroom.

I have alternating IBS also but seem to suffer more from C. With constipation, I have a full bloated feeling even if I eat very little. Its very uncomfortable and it usually will radiate to my back as well. When I have the cramping with D, I will get very intense cramping that usually will come fast. I usually will have to curl myself up in a fetal position to get a little bit of relief.

i suffer from pain in left side althuogh some times it can be in the rigth side. it sharp pain. i was told probabyl ibs but i hvaing a colonscopy in three weeks to make sure. i aslo get cramps wehn hvaing bad d.
