Is this really IBS?

I've been having a bad IBS flare for the past week or so. It's been so painful and anything I eat has just made it worse.
So last night it turns out that my tummy problems were actually the nasty thing it does every now and then that usually ends me up in hospital. The reason it was thought I had UC rather than IBS.
Last night was bad.
But I think I'm past the worst now, I just need to recover.
I'm so exhausted though.
I've slept all day, but I needed to.
Stupid body.

What happens is that my bowels go insane and empty themselves. Being that I normally have horrible, horrible C, I get D at the top and it forces all the C out. This takes HOURS of agony and fever.
There's usually a ton of blood with it as well, though last night was surprisingly low on the blood content.
Which is a good thing!

I nearly called an ambulance, but I'd only have ended up on the loo for hours at hospital, and my bed was at least within a few steps here. And sure they'd have painkillers, but I have tramadol here, and I knew I had to wait for the D to all come out after the C and it would then quieten down anyway. I couldn't knock myself out during it, god knows what would happen, I'd probably wake up surrounded in.. well... yuckiness because it would still come out.

I'm so fed up of this though.
When it happens it's horrible. I spend hours going between my bed and the toilet in absolute agony and feverish.
This just does not sound like IBS to me.
The rest of my normal, day-to-day symptoms, sure, and my food intolerances.
But the fact that I get this every now and then, it just doesn't seem to fit!
Anyone got any ideas?

I had a flex sig in Jan and the doctor then said the colon was clear. But I didn't like him, he wasn't nice, he was rather creepy and he hasn't sent any information to my GP's.
I was officially diagnosed with IBS by him then, but we've known I have something wrong for years. Had a vague 'probably UC' diagnosis from an A&E (ER) doctor in 2004 because of the bleeding and the state I was in when I went in for it once.

I have this odd spot on my tummy where it hurts whenever it's pressed. It has for years. I had an ultrasound there to see if I had an ovarian cyst but I didn't.
It really, REALLY hurt all last night during this problem, whereas when I get normal bowely problems, it hurts in the gap between the top of my pelvis and my gallbladder.
This odd spot is further across, just slightly below and to the right of my belly button.

I agree. Any sign of blood needs to be checked out. It maybe that its hemmies given that you start out constipation but a full colonoscopy should be able to rule out anything serious. I hope you do see a new doctor and make sure you make them aware that you are bleeding up front. Most doctors will take that seriously and do a full workup. Please let us know how it goes.
