i hvae finally got some wehre. i got a leter today after phonoing the hostpial a few days ago. thye siad thta scope was fine and biopsis were ok. i acutlauy got to talk to the consultant over the phone. she asked me how thnigs were and becuase i am stil geting pian and d she wants me to hvae a xray of small bowel to check for imflamerory bowel diease there. she has precribed an anitspasmotic and some tnig esle for the pian to go along side the anitdepresant. just got to wait for the appointment to come thuogh. at least i will nkow now if everythnig is ok and waht thye can do to help me.

Finally Sarah, I'm glad that they finally got back to you. I'm glad that your scope looks good. Good thing she wants to check your small bowel as well. Good to rule everything out. I hope the meds help you. Please let us know when you find out about your appointment.

it is a new consualtant so jsut hvae to wait and see. i hvae had the pian a lot worsre today. i am jsut so stressed out had my uncles funeral yesturday and it was hrad as we are all devertasted at the loss. i aslo hvae more prolbems at wrok now. i am giong to see my councilor on friday so at least i am diong somethnig.

I am glad to hear that someone is trying to actually help you. Usually a small bowel study is not as conclusive as an EGD (esophagogastroduodenoscopy - longest word in the world, which essentially means that they are looking at your esophagus, stomach, and first part of the small intestine).   That is pretty much the "opposite" of a colonoscopy. 

If your colonoscopy was good to go, this might very well be a "functional" disorder that is not able to be imaged or biopsied...i.e., we don't know what exactly it is.  That is the case for most of the people that post on this site, so you shouldn't feel alone!

All that means is that medical science has not yet elucidated the source of your pain.  That doesn't mean it's not real pain that you are experiencing.  So they are not believing that you are "imagining" this pain.

I am sorry for the loss of your uncle.  Is your consultant a primary care physician?  Let us know how it goes.

i am watiing for an apointnmet from gi. i was reffered to hostiapl. i was aslo reffered to the mental healht unit abuot six monhts ago for it. to me it is like thye are saying i am crasy. i feel sure thta thye thnik i am imageing thnigs like the pian. my gp more a less siad thta to me once. sorry i thnik i am thick my gp siad ibs is a functional thing but if everythnig is noraml and ok thne how get there be somethnig wrong? why i am bleeding and geting d and i wuold call my pian serve if everythnig is ok thtas what i donet get. no cause has ben found for my bleding and it is raelly geting me down. sorry i donet want to affend anyone it is jsut the nothnig wrong and no cure for it. i t effects me so much thta giong out is hard. i am only young and shuold be living my life but at monemt i feel like i hvae a life sentence. i see all my friends out enjoying thmeselves and its like do you wanna go and i hvae to say no canet in to much pian to move or got d.

While, yes, some doctors may think you are a hypocondriac, most are smart enough to recognize that having an ongoing illness is going to affect you mood. Why wouldn't you be depressed in this situation? I would be. A lot of people with cancer are referred to therapists--not because they're not in pain or not sick, but because they need help dealing emotionally with their illness. In some ways you are in even a worse boat because you have no name for your problem. The not knowing is even worse than the knowing in most cases.

I think you should definite seek the help of a therapist so you have someone else to talk to about your fears about going out, about people not believing that you are really ill and really in pain, about the loss of your uncle and about the loss of, essentially, your youth. They may not make you hurt less, but they may make you feel better emotionally, make you feel as if you can handle things better.
