Glad to say bladder has settled down but wasn't impressed with the "back to front" technique of the registrar!

I have a colonoscopy scheduled for 12 December. Have been quite a bit better lately but had thin stools again this morning. The thing is they are not always thin so I hope this implies there is a cause for them other than the dreaded colon cancer!

Hoping you are all coping. It is good to be able to ask questions and get reassurance from other members.

Thanks for your good wishes. Iam trying to forget about the ucoming colonoscopy for a few weeks!! Another question: from research I have done on internet there seems to be conflicting views on what constitutes healthy poop. Some say if it floats it is good as it means it is sufficiently fibrous, others that floating indicates a problem with excess gas. Mine, I have to say (!) are variable. Some float some sink but all are on the soft side but not actually watery. I also have a feeling as though a ball is stuck in my rectum after defecating - could this be the haemorroids the chap who did the sig found? These symptoms have been with me since the middle of August and I get the colonoscopy on Dec 12. I hope that if there is something seriously amiss that it will be in time to deal with it! Any thoughts? Many thanks - sorry to be a worry wart but I know I will get proper info here not just scare stories. Some internet sites really frighten!

My mother's a nurse and says floating is always a sign of too much gas. Although mushy poops and bits and pieces will oftentimes float--I think this is just because there's not much weight to them, not because of gas, necessarily.

Yes, hemroids can make you feel funny things around your rectum. The best bet for getting them to relax is to not strain to have bowel movements (i.e. be constipated) and also not to spend too much time sitting on the toilet. If you have D and have to spend a lot of time on the toilet, it's better to have a session, get up, hang around, and then sit back down than to just stay sitting there the whole time--sitting on a western-style toilet puts strain on hemmies.

Thanks for your comforting message, Canyonbabe. Stools quite normal in dimension today. I have a low fat diet (veggie bordering on vegan) so don't think it is excess fat in this case. One more query - I have read that, post colonoscopy, all the good guys in the gut are cleared out so I assume a good course of probiotics could be useful here. I take acidophilus every day anyway and Activia yogs. Any other ideas of good probiotics or prebiotics (what are these by the way?) that I could stock up on for re-establishing good bacteria post c/scopy?
