15 days ago, I had a constant and growing pain on the right side under the rib cage. It was eventually a throbbing pain that sent me to my doctor and then to ER. My doc initially thought the gallbladder and then sent me to ER for ultrasound, etc. At ER, they did the ultrasound and saw an enlarged kidney. The CT scan showed a 4.7 mm stone in the ureter and I was sent home to wait for the stone to pass.
Stone hasn't passed. I am still tender in the ribcage and by the end of the day, I am exhausted. Feels like the kidney isn't happy, and i even have mild swelling in that area under the bra strap by the end of the day.
Saw the urologist this week. He discussed my options and requested an Xray to confirm location of stone. Today he called to tell me the stone is not in the ureter, it is now lodged in the kidney. He can't figure out why i am still sore or with symptoms and he wants to do another ultrasound to confirm what's going on with the kidney, he can't do the sound wave therapy to break up the stone if it is in the kidney and he'll have to remove it endoscopy.
Has anyone had a similar experience? kidney stone moving from ureter back to the kidney? What's going on? advice, etc. Any information will be appreciated.
