Hi everyone, first post here and hoping to learn more from others, about
my newest health condition.
Yesterday morning at around 5 A.M. I woke up to what I thought was tremendous gas pressure and that painful feeling of having to "go #2" I sat on the toilet for about 45 minutes and even walking around to see if I could loosen things up, with no luck. I was sweating a bit and felt as if I had to throw up. The pain did not get better and was constant to the point I decided I would drive to the E.R., because I could no longer cope with the pain. I was literally starting to cry(being a man that is two months from being 40 years old). In fact I did shed a tear or two when I arrived at the E.R. right in front of the registration people. After struggling to keep my temper under control I showed them my insurance card and did al the required registration stuff. I still had more to do there, but I exclaimed that I could no longer do it and I need to get this darn pain gone.
I ended up on the bench where a nurses aid asked more questions, that I tried to answer under my quiet and stuttering voice of pain(It was so irritating beyond belief to answer so many questions, but I reminded myself that they need to know about me in order to not give meds that may hurt me. I was then asked to do a urine sample(still under extreme pain) I couldn't do it I absolutely could not pee....at all. He kept telling me I have to do it and please buzz him when I'm done(I was left there with jug to pee in. A minute later the main nurse came in(very very kind and great) At this point I told her I couldn't do the urine thing and she said if I couldn't then I'd have to get a catheter. Well this is when I totally lost it and broke down from the pain. I was helped up to the bench and laid down... I was told to lay still while she put in the arm cath, drew blood and started me on Zofran and Morphine. She asked about where the pain is from 1 to 10 and I said 13... I also told her I felt like puking so in came the puke bucket plus a pumped up charge of Zofran. The Zofran started to burn in my arm so input levels were adjusted lower.
The morphine was awesome...I never had that before and I have to say I love it. The pain went from a 13 to a 2 in about 20 minutes....I felt great. The nausea went away as well. I actually felt like I was ok and normal ready to go eat and build a porch. She then instructed me to take two cups of this contrast stuff in prep for a CT scan... I had to ride a wheelchair to the scanner(I wasn't allowed to walk) even though I felt fine walking. I go tin the CT scanner and I started to panic that something serious is going on. In the scanner I ended up getting more nausea and puked afterwards... I could put the salyvia in my mouth in a gallon jug...it was horrible.
So skipping to it the doctor told me I have a kidney stone....I felt relief, because I knew they weren't a big deal and very common. I have to make an appointment with the bladder doctor and currenty taking Tamsulosin, Oxycodone and ondansetron. The only one I have to use so far is the tamsulosin and the other two are for nasea and/or pain. So far I have no further pain or nasea. The tamsulosin is to relax my prostate or something to make stone passage easier...I also was instructed to drink like tons of water....hence from the tamsolusin and heavy water drinking and a few hours on oxycodone....I managed to pee my pants lol. I good on that now, but I guess with not knowing what to expect I had a lil accident. Still many bathroom trips.
Hopefuly it will pass and is no big deal....Guess the urologist will tel me when I go there.
Anyways, it sucks.... I never felt pain like that....like ever....It felt like I got shot in the gutsX10....
Thanks fo rreading and I look forward to learning all about kidney stones////
