Creatinine and Dialysis

Hi, I know the subject has been discussed on here but can anyone say whether they think I should have dialysis (the docs want me to) as my creatinine levels are over 600 which is about 6. in USA. I have read of cases where the level has been twice this and they are still not having dialysis.

I feel well in myself though kidney function is now at 6%. I have no other symptoms except cramps in the legs and only at night. I don't want to be hooked up to that machine any sooner than I have to and though my fistula is in place and ready, I would appreciate anyone elses thoughts on this.

Hi Happy Turtle, thanks for replying. My kidney disease is ongoing and will not improve so I know that sooner or later I'll have to have dialysis but wanted to hold it off as long as was safely possible. I'm discussing it all with my consultant soon, so will try to find out as much information before making a decision.

good morning dialysis is a hard pill for anyone to swallow it was hard for my mother she has liver failure and kidney failure so its a constant battle but i will tell you this hun she hated the going into center and being hooked up for 4 hours at a time it drained her all she did was sleep when i got her ome in june i completed home dialysis training and we currently do it at home now on a macine called nxstage best machine ever my mom had lost all kidney function now since on this macine she urinates and it makes her so happy i do recomend you try the dialysis without it potassium and posperous levels can get really high and cause death. not sure if you ave someone at home that would be willing to train with you to do it at home or just sit with you wile you do it considering you a fistula onv=ce button olse are established its a simple stick my mother as graft so we have to rotate needle sticks she wont stick er self just something to consider nx stage is a great macine we run 2 hours and 30 mins four days a week and she gets no heparine and the blood is pulled from the body slower tan in center so se is full of life when she comes offf good luck to you hunny if you have any questions id be happy to answer if i can
