chest pain/lupus?

I know most people are busy today. I need to be but I'm working hard at being lazy lol. I was just wondering if you get chest pain? This is not like a heart attack kind of thing. I get it often, but it's just brief pain like a few seconds and than it's gone. but it comes and goes maybe 5  or 6 times a day. It's been going on for a long time. it's more of a irritant then anything. I was wondering if it's normal or maybe oe of my meds that is causing a problem.

Yeah, I get a sharp pain under my left boob on a frequent basis.  Like you, I know it's not a heart attack.  But it literally takes my breath away the pain is so intense.  Mine will last about 30 seconds and then go away, but it can happen a few times a day like that.  It's weird.  I have no idea what it is!!!  I think I've been experiencing this for many years now.  Probably a rib rubbing on something.  Who knows. 

 

I've read some of the posts in the fibro forum talking about costochondritis.  I'm going to ask my rheumy about that when I see her in January. 

 

I agree, it's annoying and irritating.  I want it to stop!

I get the same sharp pain under the left breast. I have really bad arthritis in my spine and my ribs pop out of place if the inflammation flares. I know ribs can pop out and feel like a heart attack if enough do it. I also know it is 10 times worse when I have pluersy. I am likely going to have to ask about it, but I keep forgetting.

Okie, I also get chest pain similar to what you've described. It seems to come & go - will have it for weeks & then it will go away for a month or more. I find myself breathing very shallow during the pain as taking a deep breath is difficult. If the pain persists, your Rhumy may request periodic chest X-rays - that's what I've found.

    Like the others who have responded to your post, I too have similar chest pains that you are describing. Mine though last longer, 30 mins to 3 or 4 hours at a time. Initially I had them for only a few minutes but they have progressively lasted longer. My doctors said that I have costrocondritis. I had an intercostal nerve block done (the place where the ribs meet the sternum was injected with cortisone) It was a drastic measure, but needed to be done. It took the pain away and has stayed away for more then 5 years now. I don't know if this helps you out at all, I hope it does.
