Pulse steroids tomorrow

I'm not looking forward to it, but tomorrow is the first of 3 treatments. Yuck.   I did Pulse steroids 8 years ago as an inpatient but this time I'm outpatient?  Anyone else do it that way?

Sorry Mom . . . this sounds a bit scary for you. I really don't know what pulse steroids is. I have heard of it . . . but don't have a clue. . . could you explain it??? Blessings!

It's 1,000 mg of Solumedrol by IV for 3 days.  I start tomorrow and finish on Saturday.

I had it before a few years ago and ended up w/AVN, and a bunch of side effects.

Hey mom I know exactly where you are at. I've done it several times. My very first sign of lupus was kidney failure. I did pulse of 1.000mg of solumedrol IV for 7 days. It is rough! Remember to bring some gum because it tastes nasty! Please know you are in my thoughts and prayers. Keep us informed on how you feel. God Bless You, Judy

Hi Mom.  I did pulse solumedrol as an inpatient about 3 years ago.  I still remember that I was awake 24 hours at one point and yes, it tastes wicked. I just got a steroid injection Tuesday so here it is after midnight and I'm wide awake.  It's great to have some pain relief and energy, but I'll be glad to get some rest soon. I also discontinued my Imuran and started CellCept Wednesday-so far no problem.  I sure hope your pulse solumedrol goes well.  It should make you feel much better.  Please let us know how it goes.  Love, Butterflake

thank you!  I didn't sleep at all last night, worried about today.  The last time I had pulse steroids I ended up w/avascular necrosis in my left hip.  I am so worried it will happen again.  This time though I have two kids, it makes it so much harder.  I started Cellcept last week but we discontinued it yesterday.  My RA is deciding whether to start cytoxan again or not.  I"ll find out on Monday.
