ooops! I meant corner of my eye not coner.

Hi ginny, I did see my eye doctor about the other eye, he said it was episcleritis and prescribed eye drops. it went away in a couple of wks. Now I have the same thing in my right eye. I did some research on episcleritis and I found that it can be associated with a systemic condition like Lupus, lyme disease, RA, syphillis or can even happen with no association to any diesease!

Yes, I came up with the same info KaAl.  I learned something new today!  If I ever get an eye issue that resembles this disorder, I know who to talk to!!

 

Is this a disorder that you can expect to get on a regular basis, or is it something that once treated with those drops, will go away and you won't have to deal with it anymore?  Does it hurt? 

 

I'm glad you have treatment for it KaAl.  I guess that is one more major symptom to add to your list.  One more piece to the growing puzzle, right!

I had a terrible eye infection that was lupus related... It was an infection of the (sclara)... I had steroid eye drops...
My Dr. told me that you had to gradually lower the drops and not just stop using the drop.. If you just stop it will come right back...

My eye swelled up and my eyeball was in pain for 13 days... It was a terrible experience because I had not been fully diagnosed with Lupus yet... and when I went to the eye dr.. he said to me that he usually only saw this infection in people that had auto immune disorders... My head just dropped and I told him that I had been seeing a Rhuemmy for so many months.. He then told me I was to call the Rhuemmy and tell him... at that point, that was the last thing that I had before I was finally diagnosed....

I find this strange that so many of us have eye issues before our dx. When I was 16 I had a really bad eye infection- light hurt so much, they were blood shot and watery yet itchy at the same time. I ended up with eye drops that burned. It cleared and then came back a few weeks later. The eye drops helped the second time too. I was told it wasn't allergies and the sensitivity to light has been a problem ever since. I had 20/20 vision before the infections and have needed glasses ever since with my vision getting progressively worse. I was never told what the infection was either. I can't wear mascara anymore since it happened- it makes my eyes hurt really bad. I also occassionally had my eye lid swell closed for no good reason. That stopped once I got treatment for the lupus. I hope your problem clears up soon.
