Hi again, is Vertigo apart of an Autoimmune problem?  I've had it on and off for the last few years and don't know how to stop them?  The Doctors are not sure either...

Hi Quack,

I have vertigo too, its commanly associated with MS but there are many many other causes.  I have Lupus brain lesions which the doctors attribute to my memory loss, speech and cognative issues, tremor and vertigo.  Their is a medication for the vertigo i can't remember the name but i declined to take it because the side effects seemed worse than the vertigo alone.  Have you ever had a brain MRI?

I think that Meclazine is probably the drug you are referring to. It made me pretty groggy. When I was first diagnosed and was in a bad flare, weakness and dizziness were 2 of the worst symptoms I had.

thanks for replying, I have had two brain MRI looking for MS at the time...it showed a few lesions in the corpos callosum, and tiny ones in the Sub cortical?? something like that...but they said not MS...? So, I'm waiting to have a C Spine MRI, but not till July.  I didn't realize you could have lesions with Lupus...no one mentioned that to me?  I am finding so much info on this forum, thanks to you guys...I appreciate all this help.

   I have lesions in the same area you do. I was tested for MS as well. I did have 4 O-bands come back positive but, no MS dx. I was told it was Lupus CNS.

   I have had balance problems, vertigo and constant ringing in the ears for over 9 years now. I do take Antivert/meclazine when needed. I was having bad seizures at one point and was only able to walk with a walker. I'm doing so much better now but, still struggle with the balance problems a good bit. The constant ringing in the ears can really get on my nerves sometimes too... :-)

hi quack, i have had vertigo to, i was at one time getting episodes with it about every 3 mnths. i would just wake up out of focus and couldnt find my direction, i felt like i was falling and very dizzy, i went to ent. he started me on low doses of volume, he says it works sooner than adivert or the other. i had mri and it was normal, docs not sure why it happens, but i have not had a problem with it in over a year. i know its a terrible feeling hope you get to feeling better soon. sheshe

sorry i forgot something, my ent told me to stop eating salt, spicy food no chocalate, or caffene. i did this for a couple months and it did help, but also i have been eating normal and had no problems so far. sheshe

 Lupus CNS is when Lupus attacks the Central Nervous System.
