This is my first posting here. So bare with me if I make any mistakes. I was first dx'ed with SLE in 97 or 98. My symptoms were the usual pain in the joints and mucsles, stiffness, I would have severe RLS. They were there but managable. I started on the usual treatments and after a year decided that I didn't  need my medication anymore. I was fine for nine years. At the end of January I started showing signs again. Now a nine year remission is virutually unheard of. So I got to thinking I was working at Petsmart back then when I got sick. I am again working at Petsmart but in a different store. Makes me think there is something in that store that is making me sick.

 

I haven't been able to get into the rhuematologist yet (appointment this Friday). So bascily I am on prednisone and nothing for pain. I went to the ER and they gave me the prednisone, but they refused to give me anything for the pain. So I basicly have been suffering I make it through the days as best I can. And the nights, well the nights are long. But I try to stay positvie. Looking forward to getting to know you guys.

lexieand dazzy welcome. I was diagnose 1988 felt o.k. till 2004 things can happen with lupus. Doc. never took me off my meds. nor did I ever stop. You are most likely in a flare. Where you work wouldn't have anything to do with lupus. There are alot of nice people on this forum maybe they can answer you better, you should try see your doc. sooner.

Hiya join..

Actually where I work may have some bearing on me being ill. There is a chemical called pristane, which has been show to cause chemically induced lupus in lab mice. If I can figure out whether pristane is used in the pet food industry (such as packaging) then I know why I am sick. It is a long shot...but from what I understand people just do not go into remission for nine years. Hope you have a great night.

Hi Lexie, I've been away for several days . . . sorry I missed your post. Welcome to the forum!!! There are environmental things that can cause a flare. Certain lighting can even make some of us ill. I don't know anything about the chemical you mention . . . but it sure seems like more than a coincidence that you are back in that environment and sick again. I hope you'll post and tell us how things went at your Rheumy appointment. How are you feeling by now?? Blessings!

Hiya hun

 

My appointment was yesterday. The rhuemy isn't sure if I am actually in a lupus flare up, he took blood work to confirm it. I should get those resuts Tuesday. But I did have enough trigger points for fibromyalia. So now I have yet another diagnosis to deal with. I am being referred to a painmanagement doctor for shots and physcial therapy. LOVELY!

Hey Lexie, Thanks for the update. Wow! He didn't waste any time getting you to pain management. I hope you'll keep us posted how that goes. My only experience with a pain management clinic was a negative one. But I think there are several members here who have been helped by their pain management plans. I have had some real benefit from some steroid injections into the wrists though. So I hope your injections give you some quick relief. I was amazed how quickly that helped. Keep us posted!
