SSD and WON

 Hi everybody I had my hearing for ssd. and won. Through out the pass year was very over whelming for me, the paper work, not knowing if I  would be approved drs.app. trying to to keep up with everything  ect. I when in, it was the judge, court reporter, lawyer, husband and me. The judge ask me two question, what I did on my job and  how I do my job meaning lifting, was  I on my feet  all day I explain it to him and that was it. Very nice judge. When we were done we went back to lawyers office and I ask him how I did he said I won I didn't even realize it. That how fast it was.

Way to go!  That's one for the good guys.

SSD is such a hassle...it took me 3 tries and when the judge read my application he did not even call a hearing.  It is a relief to get it behind you and get on with dealing with your disease(s) and recovery.  If I had been forced to work again I would have been back in a hospital in short time.

Bsime That was my 2 time, the first my sister help me out with it. I must say my drs. were great about it also. The sec. time I decided to get a lawyer. I was on short term disaibilty then, went to long which I am on, I would'nt be able to go back to work either.

  Sad to hear that Lynnwood my lawyer tried to push mine up last May but there is such a backlog that he couln't, I hope you will hear somthing sooner.

Hi Debbie, I'm glad to hear that. I get so angry when people obviously need help and people drag their feet. I've actually heard that the first time around they usually deny about 85% of people. It's almost like it's somthing they are proud of. I understand not everyone that applies for it needs it but when you can't work and have a stack of doctors reports they should take things a bit more serious.
speaking of which I am on SSD and medicaid. I got a letter in the mail today that said the government wants to see prove of who I am so I need to make a copy of my drivers license and send it in. If I don't have it in by the 13th they will close my case! So that gives me 8 days. Good grief! So I'm going tomorrow to the DHS office and handing it to them so they can make a copy. I just couldn't beleive they only give people one week to get it copies and back to their office.

Hello Gidget: I know how you feel,just answer the question's honestley don't ramble on. My lawyer talk to me in his office before we went in, went over somethings that the judge might ask. I was amazed how calm I was. I thought I might be very nervous. My lawyer told me I Had a good case. My opinon the lawyer wouldn't take a case if he didn't think he has a case. I have to pay for the paper work (I just got his bill today.) lol.

Hi Debbie, yeah that's the weird thing I have been on disability since last year, I was lucky or unlucky I guess it depends on how you look at it. They pretty much took one look at me and did the rest over the phone I was approved after 15 min. with their ssd doctor. That's what throws me is they have all my info. They've been paying my bills and sending me checks. I guess it's some new law they have out now. It's just that it's not so easy to get out and get these things done right away when your in pain. To give you such little time is rediculous. especially when they take years for some people to make a decision. Sorry I'm ranting lol

First of all, Congratulations Joinery!! I applied for SSD over one and a half years now and Allsup,disability company, is handleing the reconsideration. No news yet. Did you or anyone else file strictly on lupus or did you add depression, asthma, sjogrens, etc.? Myfirst application was fibomyalgia, cfs and it got denied. Then I got diagnosed with lupus, severe depression, anxiety, etc. They are using depression as the main reason for disability. Any suggestions would help. also, I am going to be 50 years old this year, does age make a difference? I was told you are pretty much denied under 50.Thanks again for listeding and congrats! Dumplin

Hi dumplin: I was 49 when i went out on sick leave. I'm 51 now. Turned down from ssd once and got it 2nd time. You have to remember mine could be different then then yours. I didn't get it for depression, mine was for dermatomositis, fatigued, sle, also I'm getting shot's in both shoulders. I think the one thing was my face it really shows the rash. Hope everything goes well with yours.
