Hi Everyone. I started acupuncture last week. I've had five sessions now and my pain level is down to a 2 from a 7. I was having such bad pain all over and in different joints. My rheumy gave me a fentenyl patch and it made me itch and nauseous. So, I was taking darvocet almost every day for a couple of weeks and decided to try acupuncture. So far I've had good results and plan on going as often as needed. Also I've had some cognitive improvement with CellCept. I still garble words, but not nearly as much. My driving is a bit better. Finally, I've started seeing a psychologist weekly and that's going well. I hate all the appointments, but the acupuncturist and shrink are close to my home. And in case you're wondering, some of the acupuncture needles hurt, I have several bruises, but overall it's a good experience and well worth the pain relief. Love, Butterflake

((( Donna )))) good to hear the acupuncture is going so well. You know I have never thought about doing that, I guess the thought of needles stuck all in me kinda freaks me out a little. How many needles to they use? Do they put them in specific areas to control the pain? Sorry for all the questions. I guess I should read up on it! Anyway, glad to hear it's working for you and you are improving! Keep us posted

I'm glad the Cellcept is helping you. For me it was the miracle drug that brought me back my brain....and also seems to have started the rest of my symptoms towards remission. I also wonder when I start multiple things at once...is it Cellcept? Acupuncture? Maybe even the psychologist? Or is it me with way too many questions? LOL. So glad that pain is down - 7 is way too high,

I'm glad this is working for you!  HOw cool is this!

 

I tried one session of acupuncture a few months ago and it sent me into a terrible flare up.  I also had the biggest bruise on my chest that I've ever seen!  No word of a lie, it was the size of a big apple!!!!  It lasted about 6 weeks!!!  I'm on blood thinners so that didn't help...... Hahaha.... Acupuncture didn't work for me, but I'm sure glad it's working on your pain!  Good to hear!

  I'm glad to hear your getting great results with acupuncture and the Cellcept. Sounds like things are turning around for you...((Hugs)). Keep us updated and take care. You are in my thoughts and prayers.

I have done acupuncture too and find it very helpful.....as a matter of fact, I need to schedule an appt. I'm glad you are seeing some benefit from it, any benefit is good! My doc used 13 needles each time and then hooked them up to a TENS unit type thing.

Wow, that is great news to hear how much the accupuncture is helping. I've always been interested in it, but have never tried it because I'd have to travel about an hour to have it done. Keep us posted and I hope things continue to go well for you. Take care

Hi Ladies. Stacie, my guess is about 30 needles for my first treatments, stuck in a line from my breast bone to pubic bone and about 5 in my face. Yesterday my treatment was in my upper back and neck. Both treatments I had needles in my arms and legs too. BTW, the needles in my face are to increase my energy- go figure! Lynnwood, what if it's a combination of all three (needles, drugs and shrink) tongue   But hey, even if it's positive thinking, I'll keep going until it no longer reduces my pain.  Ginny, I too have a bad bruise, near my pubic bone, golf ball size. I felt sick after my first two treatments, but the doc told me I would. I woke yesterday AM with no pain yeah yeah The pain returned later, but it sure was great to wake up pain free. As always, it's so nice to get your replies. I love you all.  Butterflake

You know, after a massage it's good to drink a lot of water & soak in a warm bath w/epson salts or apple cider vinegar. I wonder if there is some similar follow-up home care that could be done after acupuncture to help with some of those bruises & stuff ?

I just ordered a basic book on acupunture (thru HealingWell) so it just might have that type of info. The day she treated my back, she finished by rubbing capasian sp? oil. Most of my many bruises are pea size- no big deal. The acupuncturist is an MD from China, who works for the Emory system. She said acupuncturists know all the major blood vessel, but there is no way of telling where small ones are - hence, the bruise. BTW, my insurance is covering most of this! I wonder how many people had to fight with Blue Cross to get that one approved! Thanks for the reply Lynnwood. Love, Butterflake
