Curious, has this every happened to anyone?  Got a headache yesterday afternoon, took tylenol for it, needed to lay down for a bit, that didn't help either....took some more tylenol later on....had a light dinner, and by 7pm was so exhausted/tired, couldn't keep my eyes opened.  It actually felt like I had taken sleeping pills, just couldn't keep those eyes open at all, so, went to lay down again...just for a bit. I woke a few times during the night, but not for long, still couldn't get past that exhausted feeling....and then slept till about 8:30 this morning...waking up yawning like crazy!

The last three weeks or so I've had a numb left foot, now the right. Arthritis in both thumbs has been pretty bad for the last week, joints everywhere hurt, and the weirdest thing is the bottoms of my feet are sore in the moring, and for several hours after....sore and numb.. at the same time!!!

The headache/sleepy thing has happend a couple of times in the past couple of months too....

Absolutely and it sucks! When I get that tired I get pain in my ribs too. My rhemie said its just the cartilage and everything in between the ribs that are inflammed and causing pain( just like in your joints)Costrochrondritis I think?? That pain in my ribs is a huge sign I am starting a flare. For whatever reason it only happens when I am feeling really bad.
I get numbness and tingling (like my hands or feet are asleep) frequently too. I would have that checked out though. It is definately a sign of circulation problems and even clots. It sounds like neuropathy though. I think a few people here have it, I am sure they will respond.
As for the sleeping all day and night I feel like I could do that everyday! I hope that helps, and I hope that you are able to stay rested for a few days and start feeling a little better soon.

Thanks Melissa, I did have a very rested day yesterday, am back to work this morning...very soon infact....hopefully the workload won't be as heavy this week, and my body will cooperate with me!!! The pain I can deal with (although at the time it seems I can't) but the fatigue is the worst!  And the times when I can't keep my eyes open always seem to fall immediately after the onset of a pain (hip pain --first time the hip flared up, and the headaches....)hmmmmmmm.  Anyway, good, safe, healthy, painfree, restful days to you all!

I guess my question is, does anyone have the same onset of fatigue?  Pain of some sort first....i.e. headache, joint pain, etc.. more so than usual, then the major fatigue....more so than usual?  This past week I had more shortness of breath than usual as well.

It sounds to me like you're in a big old flare up.  If you're experiencing these symptoms more now than in the past, that is a sure sign your lupus isn't under control.  Get in to see your rheumy as soon as you can.  The shortness of breath would concern me the most.

That's what I was thinking as well, with the flare up...but, here's the biggy...I don't have a Rheumy yet....still no definate dx.

The shortness of breath isn't bad right now....just really have hard time going up stairs, slight inclines, long bike rides (do 10 milers with the scouts every couple of weeks...may not beable to do the 15 miler this coming weekend if not feeling better)..the last time I had the shortness of breath I also had some major chest/back pain (lung area) any time I sneezed or took a deep breath.  Thankfully that isn't happening this time.  That lasted for about 1 month to a month and a half.

So....no definate dx, this is all new to me.....so many symptoms, but thinking back over the years...it's probably been hanging around for a while, just not knowing, until all kinds of things started happening all at once, since the end of Dec.  Doc ordered all kinds of blood work, said the RA indicators came back normal, and the anti dna came back indeterminent....and to redo it.  I haven't redone it yet. Was waiting for a new flare...guess now would be a good time!

Sunshine..

It sounds to me like you are in a major flare. Don't ignore the shortness of breath/chestpain. Your lungs can get inflamed just like your joints can, and it takes more than just OTC pain med to control the pain once it kicks into full gear. It is called pleurisy, and is nothing to take lightly. Since you don't have a rhuemy yet, I suggest going to see your primary doctor if it starts up again. Get that bloodwork done, too. My ANA levels were normal one month, and the next were skyrocketing.

I will have that bloodwork done ASAP, and make an appointment with my doc...and research a good Rheumy that will have good Lupus knowledge.....

Thanks all, it's really nice to be able to come on here and have people truly understand what we all go through....

Hi,

When I flare, I get hit with the fatigue first. That lasts for 3-10 days and about halfway thru that I get hit with joint pain. Sort of feels like you are coming down with the flu or something. Then all of a sudden..it leaves me. I still cannot figure out what causes the flare in the first place.
