Hi everyone. I just noticed all these little skin tag type things on my neck a few days ago. They are very small flesh colored, almost flat bumps. I did a search for them and they said the only causes were PCOS, which I dont have, and acromegaly, pretty sure dont have that either! It just seems they arent anything but annoying.

I have to see my primary because he wont renew my Celebrex or Plaquenil unless I come see him. ( Havent seen any of my docs since November, they dont say anything but "Lets run some labs and see you in 3 months" Its not worth my time!) He will just send me to a dermatologist, who will probably tell me nothing.....

I wondered if they are a side effect of Plaquenil but couldnt find that either. So I was just wondering if anyone else has noticed these?

Skin tags- don't you hate 'em! I went to a derm who knows lots about lupus re the constant red rash I have at the base of my throat and the pesky skin tags. She said the rash is from photo sensitivity and many people in the general pop have the same rash and/or skin tags. Not to worry. Use sunscreen for the rash and treat the skin tags as pets (Well, no she didn't say that). Love, Butterflake

My sister and my mother have/had skin tags on their necks. I'm not suggesting that you try this . . . but they use Compound-W on theirs and remove them. There are skin tags related to Crohn's disease . . . but I thought they were always on your pooter. I'm glad Donna (Butterflake) new something about these . . . . it always makes me feel better when someone else has gotten good news about a similar issue. Keep us posted if you learn more about it. I've heard everything from diabetes, to liver disease, to cancer as causes for skin tags. My dermatologist seemed to think that they were caused by a bunch of different things and some people just get them as a hereditary thing. I use the compound W too. Not on the ones by my eyes though. I think diabetes or blood sugar may have something to do with them. And I never had them till after my neck surgery.

Thanks all for the info. I will have to think about the Compound W. I have some in my medicine cabinet. Just another thing to deal with, with no answers! I always thought that glucose levels had something to do with them too. Mine is always normal on my blood panels though. Oh well, as long as they stay the same size they wont bother me. They are pretty small, just annoying.

Skin tags are normal and usually harmless skin growths.  Some people leave them alone but I have had them removed by a dermatologist.  Depending on their size they are either surgically removed or frozen.  I would not use compound W.

Any of us with a suppressed immune system should not take a chance with skin cancer.  I see a dermatologist every six months and had basal cell carcinoma last summer.  I am paying the price for a life in the sun.

Sometimes we look for exotic explanations about mundane things.

I have no idea of the cause, but the molepaste or itworkspaste should remove them with only one app.

My dermy says they are not indicative of anything except possibly aging and she just wants to leave them alone. Like Bill, I advocate a regular dermy visit to monitor these & other funky skin things -- my dermy says every year.
