bleeding ulcer

Have any of you all had to deal with a bleeding ulcer. I've been to 2 Dr.s this week and this is what they say I have. The Gastro DR is putting me in for a proceedure next week. I'm to get to an ER if I had anymore problems before then.

The only reason he said he wasn’t going to send me to get a transfusion is because I told him my stool started looking normal yesterday afternoon. He said my hemoglobin count was only 9 on Weds, and I’m not sure if he said it had been 12 or 15 a month ago when I had some other blood work done. He sent me home told me not to do anything for the next few days till they could do the thing.

Have any of you had to deal with something like this?

Oh sweetie, that's awful.  I've never had that issue, but I sure hope you get treatment soon for it.  Are you on blood thinners?  Do you take Aspirin or NSAID's? 

 

Ya, don't do much for the next little bit okay.  Any exertion might flare it up.  Keep us posted,

I've never had a bleeding ulcer, I just wanted to tell you how sorry I am that you are going through this. Please take extra good care of yourself and I hope you don't end up needing a transfusion. Hang in there. I'm sending lots of positive thoughts your way. (((((hugs)))))

No blood thinners, the only aspirin is that 81mg that the heart Dr wants you to take. I haven't been on any NSAID's for a while. ALmost 5 years ago I had the gastric bypass, The thinking was that the weight loss would help with the Fibro and stuff, It did for abou 9 months, never felt better or looked better, I got into sizes that I hadn't even worn as a teenager. Then when I was put back on steroids and some other meds I gained little weight back, then last year was real sick again and lost some of the weight. Then they put me on a new Med in Dec. and I've gain 20 but I got the Dr. to take me back off it in Aug.
