I have been having some lower back pain, more so on my left side and sharp pains in the lower left front of my stomach as well.  Has anyone had these types of symptoms??  I was dx w/lupus Sept. 2008.  There is a lot I have learned about but still a lot that I don't know.  Any info. or feedback would be greatly appreciated.

Hi Red, welcome!

I have a lot of lower back pain, mainly on my right side and it's from lupus. Where is the pain on the left side of your stomach, is it under rib area? Both of these types of pains could be from inflammation but I would be sure to mention it to your rheumy on your next visit or give them a call.

Hi redneck, That could be inflammation in your colon . . . are diverticulitis. Make sure to talk to your doctors about it and let us know what you find out. Blessings!

The pains don't happen that often. The last time I had the pain it was a couple months ago but it lasts for a few days. It pain is so great sometimes that I can't even go to sleep. I can't get comfortable whether I'm sitting or try to lay down.
jhmom- you asked where the pain was in the front. Its lower than my rib cage. Its like right where my pants come to. The pain has actually went away since I first posted this but it lasted for like 4 days.
I have so many people ask me, what is lupus? What causes it. Its soo hard to explain. Especially since there is a lot I don't know about it myself. I get sooo tired sometimes...I just have to lay down and sleep. I don't quite think my b/f understands it yet. Like how i'm feeling and everything. He has been by my side though and has been helping me any way he can. Its just something we will have to work on living with.

Have you been under any additional stress or worried about something when you get the stomach pains? Lupus reacts very quickly and randomly to stress -- just something to check out next time if happens. As a quick way to describe Lupus: My immune system is overactive and instead of attacking only diseases, viruses, and outside bacteria, it attacks my NORMAL ORGANS. For instance, it may suddenly decide my fingers are not part of my body, and they will become inflamed, just like if they were infected with something. Swollen, red, painful, tingling, numb, burning, that sort of thing.

Now that you have brought that to my attention I guess I have been stressing over a few things. Nothing too major, just some minor things that have been on my mind. I will definately keep a close watch the next time I get these pains and see if it is stress that may be causing it. Thanks for the input =)
