Hey all!!! 

Is anyone taking zoloft or has anyone been on zoloft?  I was just wandering about any side affects you may have had and how well it works for you. 

I have been really down and depressed for a while and last Friday I just broke down, I don't know if you would want to call it a panic attack maybe??  But I just totally lost it and couldn't stop crying all day long.  Well I went and talked to my dr. Monday morning about everything and he put me on zoloft.  So I've only started taking it 2 days ago but I am curious as to how it will take affect.  

Can't wait to hear from everybody.

Hi Ashley, It worked well for me!! I thought everyone around me was in a good mood . . . turns out it was ME !! Ha haaa!! I tried Celexa and lexapro after that and those worked well too. I did notice that I had a headache for the first week or so when I started the Zoloft . . . but it does disappear after being on it for a while. I hope that goes well for you!! sorry you are having trouble. Blessings!

Different antidepressants have different effects on different people. I was on Zoloft and later Lexapro with slight improvement and no side effects. I don't recall how long it took for any changes to occur. Then an actual psychiatrists ("drug shrink", MD) put me on Wellbutrin -- that was the one that really worked and only then did I realize that the others hadn't really done much at all - the Wellbutrin improved my mood dramatically in only 2-3 days. So sometimes it's helpful to visit an actual "med shrink" and they take lots of history as to how you react to different meds and can locate the one that'll work best for you more quickly. I've heard a lot of good things for lexapro. My mom actually takes that. Well hopefully zoloft will work just fine. I haven't had a headache or anything like you had mentioned you had, alwaysrosie. But like I said, its only been a couple days. How long did it take you to notice it was working for you?? Or does it just gradually take effect??

Hi Ashley, I'm on zoloft it does work for me with no side effects, my sister is on another antidepressant I forget the name but she said that works for her, I would try it if it doesn't work ask your doc. for something else that will work for ya. Take Care

Hi Ashely,

 

I'm on Zoloft right now too.  Been on it for about 8 months and it's really helped me a lot.  I still have natural emotions but my anxiety and panic is gone. I feel much more "even".  I didn't have any bad side effects at all. Just all good ones!

I have been on Zoloft for 3 years now. The only side effect that went beyond the "get adjusted period" was weight gain. I worked my way up to 200mg a day. The first month I was nauseous and really tired, but I felt so relaxed and even that it was worth it. Migraines vanished and I could sleep well for the first time in years. But as I said before, I gained a lot of weight. 60lbs in 3 years. A lot of it was that I could finally relax- so I did. A little too much apparently! But the weight is stubborn. But I should tell you that weight issues run rampant in my extended family so genetics has something to do with it I'm sure. Short answer: I tell all my friends about the Zoloft: I'd rather have my house be stable on the inside and not quite so beautiful on the outside than the other way around! I hope this helps!

Trish, thx for your response. It helps out a lot actually. I haven't really noticed and change yet to show that it is working but I'm figuring it will take a couple weeks to notice any affect.
I have been having a nauseous feeling and a burning feeling in my neck right below my ears. Almost like I am having a hot flash or something. Its really weird. But the burning sensation hasn't happened for a couple days now so maybe that part is over with.

Hi Ashley, Actually . . . I didn't really notice the difference in "me". I knew it was working when "everyone around me" seemed to be in a good mood. Ha haaaa!!! Isn't that funny? So it changed the way I 'receive' information and made me feel like "my old self" again. Blessings!
