So my mom has been trying so hard to get awareness for lupus, and she contacted the newspaper and the editor was interested in my story.. I ended up getting on the front page of the newspaper, just thought I'd share this with everyone. I'm going to give the link for the article and on the left side their is a link for the video that goes with it. Hope everyone is doing well. :)

Good luck with the Lupus walk. I hope there is a lot of awareness now!

Hey- Great story! I just wanted to let you know that I think it feels great as a person with a disease to still do amazing things. I can attest to that. I'm a firefighter- the only female in my department. At first I didn't want people to know that I might have a disease (I wasn't diagnosed yet when I was hired, but I knew it was a great possibility). I had to convince all 53 other male members that I was good enough to run with the big boys. When I was diagnosed I still didn't want to say anything, but I had become friends with some of the firefighter's wives and they knew what was going on. They talked to their husbands about
it and eventually it got back to our Chief. He knew it was a fragile situation so instead talked to my husband about
it so I wouldn't be embarassed. I was asked one night by the deputy chief how things were going because my husband had said we were going more agressive (methotrexate)-my face turned so red, but the guy next to him just laughed and told the deputy chief not to worry about
me-he had seen me hustle with the best of them and knew that I knew my stuff and said he'd go into any burning building with me anytime. What an awesome compliment! And, I'm very proud of you too. Always do what you love-these are the things you'll remember when you are older and sit on the sidelines only because you want to sit one out.
Take care!

Sam
What a great article! You sound like a terrific girl and I'm so proud of your determination! Sounds like you're a heck of a basketball player!
Tell your mom thanks for getting the word out.
Pat
