Anyone get sores in the corner of your mouth?

I know what you mean about the money situation.  And I imagine that there are many more of these types of family with all the factories moving south to Mexico or other countries.

No sores in my mouth at all today.  I think the plaquenil might be working.  My cardiologist told me yesterday that he believed that Lupus was affecting my brain, and that is the reason for the unbalance and dizziness.

I will try this medication l-lysine if it is not expensive.  I am really strapped for money, can hardly afford my co pay for medicaid.

I have the anxiety too.  worry about everything, try to plan as best as I can for the future.  always a what if question.  What if this or that happens?  and I try to prepare for it all.

i watch the dog whisperer a lot on TV.  It is good therapy for me.  Dogs live in the moment, they don't worry about the past or the future, they only think of the now.  they don't seek vengeance, or cry because they were not perfect at some point in thier lives.  When my grandson goes off to work, I get anxious.  what if this happens or that happens to him and my car?  do not know how to get beyond this anxiety sometimes.  and sometimes I can.

Hester - I gave my dh a calcium/magnesium/potassium supplement for anxiety before he had rx for it. it helps. calms the nervous system. we had a midwife at the time and she told us about it.

I was medically unresponsive on the way to the hospital in an ambulance, and in the emergency room.

Anxiety is one of the worst feelings to me.  sometimes I have to shut myself in a room and just hold my hands together and pray, it is so strong.  It seems I will fly apart if I don't hold myself together.

and it might be just a vitamin deficiency.  amazing.  thank you so much.  going to check my vitamins now.  make sure they are in my pill box. I have not been having these anxiety attacks as much lately.  maybe because of the vitamins.

Hi Kari:

(Nasal sores I described earlier today in my Crohn's blog.)  Yes, I do get these exact same sores in the corners of my mouth, exterior where lips join. Have had this on both sides for years and am permanently scarred, same with inside my nose - my nasal sores are one sided only, scarring also inside mouth.  When flared the nasal sore spreads up higher into my nasal cavity and down and out below my nostril.  Currently a flare is healing that stretched all the way down to my upper lip.  Not pretty.  The nasal sores are nasty looking, bleed and scab, burn and tingle.  Antibiotic ointment helps.  I've wondered lately about a biopsy as it is spreading over larger area and have decided to request one next time it becomes bloody.  During the flares, my nose inside and out, becomes itchy and tingly as well as painful.

HERE'S WHAT HELPS my nasal sores: Oral NSAID (I currently use Meloxicam Rx); Mupirocin Ointment Rx topical and soothing, but not a cure; Lipactin OTC ointment sometimes helps lip sores as they begin to flare up.  

Also I have had mouth sores and burning tongue, esophogeal spasm (excruciating like angina) and burning, reflux and inflammation.  The esophagus has been stretched more than once during endoscopy and this helps for a few months.  Food gets stuck swallowing, my chest often feels raw at times.  Also, my mouth, and throat can burn severely and randomly when I gargle with Listerine or eat something simple like yummy sourdough bread dipped in salted extra virgin, cold pressed, organic olive oil - a favourite indulgence on a good day. 

My medical history is exhausting: ulcerative colitis beginning 1982; 3 severe episodes of C Diff; hypothyroidism; primary lupus with secondary sjogren's diagnosed 1999; arthritis - inflammatory and osteoarthritis; photosensitivity; various rashes and symmetrical patches of scleroderma-like patches on my skin; tendonitis (l. elbow), bursitis (r. elbow), carpal tunnel, frozen shoulder; raynaud's, telangectasia, conjunctivitis & corneal abrasion (from sjogren's); "scleroderma of the small bowel" diagnosed in 2002 bowel studies (whatever that means); pneumonias; multiple miscarriages; multiple broken bones from trauma and compression; osteoporosis, cervical disc disease; Candidiasis.  DEPRESSION - HA!, anxiety, chronic pain, chronic fatigue but not Fibromyalgia.  Hypertension.  Also I've had bilateral breast cancer.  Right breast mastectomy 1987; left partial mastectomy 1994.  Ventral hernia.  

I'm 60 and female.  Current medications are Paxil, Synthroid, Clonidine, Pantaloc, Meloxicam, M-Eslon, Elavil, X-strength plain Tylenol, Gaviscon.

Aside from all the above, I'm healthy.

Thanks for that excellent information.  I have tested negative for Celiac however, I have been on gluten free diets, fasts and purges.

The only time I've been asymptomatic - symptom free - is while fasting.  Don't seem to have the ambition to travel that road these days. 

Perhaps if I stayed on a raw diet I would do better, but did I mention depression?  It could be a tail wagging dog, who knows?

However, I highly recommend the above and gluten free diet because only good can come from learning what is possible and the foods that make us sick and tired.  For many years I refused all medications and used diet and carefully prescribed nutritional supplements to treat SYMPTOMS.  This allowed me to maintain a level of energy to exercise - walk, swim, bike, yoga well into my forties.  And a level of health and vitality that puzzled my doctors and others with similar illnesses.  Ten years ago injuries sustained in a car accident threw me into a new world where I could not function.  I became medicalized, here in Canada, where health care without restrictions as to who you can see, is free to everyone - all that you need and more.  Add private additional benefits to this and all the extras are thrown in, all you want health care including preventative and "alternate" therapies like massage and chelation etc.  Getting sidetracked here.

Forgot to mention the supplements I take:

Cal/Mag; Vit D; Vit C - EsterC; Super Omega -3; Greens; Whey Proteins or Soy Proteins; Passion Flower extract for anti-stress and sleep; 

about ULCERATIVE COLITIS and DIET: I gave up red meat on advice of alternate MD and my inflammatory bowel disease IBD has been in remission since with the exception of two critical episodes triggered by ANTIBIOTICS that set off raging C Difficile infection.  Other than that, my bowel is healed.   I learned I cannot digest red meat.  Fried food is a no no.  Macrobiotic diets and/or raw food diets have both worked very well in healing my bowel disease.  Fasting works too.  Like pouring water on a fire.    

The drugs I take as mentioned in my earlier notes have a lot of unpleasant side effects that include apathy.

I am weaning off them.

Nothing at all helped it go away until I bought a Walgreens generic cold/mouth/lip ointment.  I think it's helping but also making the one side with bumps on it very dry & more irritated.  My dentist said to use vasiline. I got some today & now I'm using both together & more comfortable. 

I've also been feverish, blue, exhausted & this has all been going on for almost 3 weeks.  Sometimes I don't run to my rheumatologist because I know the answer will be "this just has to work it's way out of your system in time".  I do take plaquinel 2x a day.  But all of this began with dental work that set off (for the first time ever) a lupus flare inside my mouth.  When I thought it was over, while under a great deal of stress (major car repairs, etc.) these sores on my lips appeared.  If I don't see a marked improvement by Monday, I will call my doctor's office & see him no later than Tuesday.  I promise to post again & let you know the outcome either way.  Hope you're feeling better!
