It sure sounds like raynauds. Do your fingers and hands go white/blue in response to cold?
I have raynauds which is a common secondary condition with diseases like lupus, scleroderma and polymyositis. Since I have all three I was destined to have raynauds.

There are other causes but possibly you should seek a second opinion. Unless the condition is severe it is usually not treated. Since I am a winter person and spend all the time I can skiing, hiking, snowshoeing it is a problem but I have learned to dress and cope with it down to -10F. Otherwise, it is more annoyance than anything else.
