so i noticed a few ppl who have lupus also have reynauds. my hands/fingers and feet turn white or blue and go numb alot. is that part of reynauds? i've asked by rheumy before and she said no because there were other symptoms...is this true?

It sure sounds like raynauds.  Do your fingers and hands go white/blue in response to cold?

I have raynauds which is a common secondary condition with diseases like lupus, scleroderma and polymyositis.  Since I have all three I was destined to have raynauds.

There are other causes but possibly you should seek a second opinion.  Unless the condition is severe it is usually not treated.  Since I am a winter person and spend all the time I can skiing, hiking, snowshoeing it is a problem but I have learned to dress and cope with it down to -10F.  Otherwise, it is more annoyance than anything else.

I agree that it sounds like raynauds. Bill gave you some great information and I really don't have anything to add. I don't need any additional treatment for my raynuads - I just make sure to keep my hands and feet warm.

yea it def happens with cold. i do my best to keep warm, its not hard living in the desert :)...i'll mention it to my doc again. thanks!

Yes, I have it and have to deal with it every winter. In the summer a/c, cold air will set me off. The Food Lion store is the worse for bing way to cold.

It sounds like Raynauds to me. My rheumy has prescribed a calcium channel
blocker to help. I take Diltiazem 180mg daily for raynauds and hypertension.

Cold or even anxiety will turn my hands and feet white, blue and red.
