Sick yet again

Hi all:

Sorry I've not been posting to much as of late. I've been reading about everyone and saying prayers for you all. I've been feeling very poorly for the past three weeks. I caught a flu bug from my daughter on Friday. I ended up in the ER with a temp of 103.5 and yes I did feel really crummy. The doctors decided instead of admitting me this time, they chose to put me on Tamiflu and Avelox. The tamiflu is to cover me in case we've got swine flu in my home, and the other is to care for me to avoid pneumonia or anything like it.

Well when I got home from the hospital, I had to take Nikita out to find shoes for homecoming dance. I took the tamiflu on an empty stomach and wouldn't you know I started vomiting like crazy. I was so sick I had to have my daughter drive us home. Now why is this a big deal? Nikita is just learning to drive and she had to drive in the dark, at night, with the rain falling and me puking in a bag in the front seat of the car. Needless, to say she's not been happy with me Mom's driving her nuts.

Nikita is the one who had this first, and now Bill has it in addition to me. Hopefully we'll all recover quickly. I'm still feeling quite sick but I think my fever has broken. Nikita managed to find some shoes she liked yesterday and then poof she was gone LOL it's amazing how quickly they grow up and want to leave the nest. I know she still has two years to graduate exactly, but I'm sure her Junior year will fly bye and she'll only have her senior year to do.

I spoke with Okie (Carol two days ago and she's back in the hospital for her lung issues) I'm sorry I'm late getting this out, but like I said I'm pretty wiped out over this dumb flu. As of this afternoon Carol was still in the hospital. So please keep Carol in your prayers. Well, I need to run starting to feel sicker by the minute. Hope you all are doing better than me and feeling even better than I do. Please keep in touch and I'll send you a personal email if you'd like. Just let me know if you need to reach me by email.

Gosh Barbara, tis the season... I take this really good cancer nausea med, medicare will only pay for 26 of them a month, I have to brek them in half sometimes,but they don't have the side effects and my liver likes em. I forget the name, they are oval and pale yellow and there is no generic.

It is really scary having your kids drive, my son had to drive me home from Savannah to west of Brunswick after my neurosurgery and it was very sobering. He'd never driven on highway before, let alone 95, and I couldn't move much, just kept praying and giving it to God. There wasn't enough morphine to make that trip comfortable, and he did a great job. Its just that you've seen the past mistakes.

I managed to get the regular flu shot, but I don't knowwhat they are doing about the H1N1. Hygiene isn't big in many households where I live, and the people tend to just bring their sick kids everywhere, figuring everyones gonna getit anyway. Handwashing is supposed to be key. I feel bad for the kids though, its not their fault. I hope you get to feeling better soon. I hate throwing up. Its good to hear you posting and getting around and being home. I bet you are gearing up for fall and all the celebrations and holidays. I have been praying for you and really pushing for you to be well ehough to be home, and to do some things you want to do. I've also been praying for your family and its good to hear they are doing good, except for the flu. Its just so good to hear from you and please know I care and I"m thinking of you and sending lots of love and positive thoughts to you, and Carol too. You two are foremost, somethings got to give so you guys have some positive medical treatment tht actually fixes stuff and improves your life more. I keep waiting and have faith that it will happen. I'm so sorry about your dad's diagnosis Barbara. I will be praying for him! I hope you feel better soon. I just got over the flu and bronchitis. Did they give you Tamiflu? It helped me alot. God Bless you, Judy

Barb is still feeling pretty bad, she has influenza A and so does her husband. She has been on oxygen for a while so the flu in the lungs and the coughing are driving her mad. She has also been unable to keep the Tmaiflu down.

Barb has been in constant contact with her doctors - they don't want to admit her to hospital for fear she could catch something else, so are holding off to see how she feels on Monday.

Barb, I wondered the other day when we spoke whether you might not have the swine flu. I hate that you have to wait till tomorrow to get medical care. Please take extra good care of yourself!

I've tried to call Carol but got no answer. I haven't said anything for fear of sounding hystrionic, but I am very worried about Carol because of a conversation her pulmonologist had with her.

I've been keeping you and Carol in my prayers.

Can I just say that ALL of you are an inspiration. I heard that Barb wasn't doing so well, so I thought I'd stop here in the Lupus forum and see what's up. Barb, you have been through so much already and I hope you start getting better soon.

My reason for thinking that you're all inspirational is that despite what is going on in your own health battle, you are all there for each other, praying and posting and thinking of one another. It truly is amazing, and gives me strength (in my little battles compared to yours) to go on.

My thoughts and prayers are with you all, and I hope your struggles lessen in the coming days. ((hugs)) to all of you!

Barb and Carol--so good to hear from both of you. I am praying for you and hope you both get better soon. The thing that is so awful that my docs just don't get is how these conditions just seem to snowball, and how that makes the patients feel. I am so sorry you are both so sick. I hope you both catch a break soon and are resting comfortably till you get through this. When I got bad pneumonia and they didn't think I would live, in the middle of the worst part this incredible peace passed over me and it scared me alot because I thought I was dying right then, I suddenly just could no longer care I was so sick, but a good friend told me with a smile "you're not gonna die, that's just the peace that passeth all understanding, just go with it" and I did and I gave up and relaxed, quit fighting and freaking out for a bit, and rested and stopped fighting, and I started getting better. Sometimes you just have to rest, you body demands it. I just wish it was more polite about it. Its scary to have that peaceful feeling while you are fighting so hard. I guess every now and then the body dumps some good chemicals like endorphins out along with all the rest.

I am praying for you both specially, you guys don't deserve any of this and that you get some peace from your bodies fighting so hard so you can get well soon.

     I hope the flu symptoms will ease up for you soon. I just don't know what to say! My heart goes out to you sweetie. You just can't seem to get a break. You are always in my thoughts and prayers.
