Surgery tomorrow

Years and years of stumbling around on high heels has caused a bunion on my right foot the size of the world's largest watermelon. When my car was t-boned a few months ago, I hit the brakes so hard with that foot that it caused more damage to the joints, so I'm finally going under the knife. Surgery is tomorrow morning...outpatient. They've rented a little cart for my right shin to rest on since I'll be non weight bearing for a while.

I have to secretly admit that I'm looking forward to complete rest for a while. Is that sick, or what. But I figure that maybe a couple of quiet months will help my lupus settle down some more.

The moral to this story is Don't wear pointy, tight high heels. You WILL live to regret it. Unless, of course, you want so spend a couple of months lounging around when you're about 60.

Hey Pat! Thinking about you today and sending prayers your way. I sure hope this will give you a chance to get your lupus quiet and NO WAY is it sick to be thankful for the next couple of months you have to rest and I mean REALLY rest. Please let us know how your surgury goes when you feel up to it.

Oh yeah, If I were to where high heeled shoes I would probably have people thinking I was drunk all the time...I know the one or two times a year I wear high heals I give everyone a great laugh...3 years ago I actually rebroke my ankle in a small high heal! I guess I am just not cordinated enough

Hope it all goes well!  ( I cannot stop wearing my heals, even though it hurts! I just can't bring myself to wear flats..."Rupus" will not take that away from me yet!   )

Hahaha. I don't remember writing my last post. I was really out of it with all the drugs they pumped into me. I'm doing great. Probably because they gave me something that's the equivalent of 10 mg of prednisone. I didn't want to do it, but didn't complain because I knew it would help with inflammation. I've tapered down to 1 mg. Now that's a miracle!

Feel good, but just have to keep my leg elevated for 2 weeks which means no getting out of bed except to go to the potty. Have my TV, my laptop, my Kindle, and my knitting. And my painkillers. So I think it will be a good couple of weeks.

You'll probably be seeing more of me. Which reminds me, I'll give Carol a call and post an update.
