problems with hair dye

Hi Does anyone else have problems dyeing there hair? I have been having burning when putting the dye on my head. I am only 35 and I am 70% percent gray. I am to young to go gray. I started having these issues when I became sick. Years ago it never bothered me. I am chemical sensitive to alot of things. Thank you for listening I would appreciate any feedback.

I've started having that lately myself. I don't plan to color again, it just seems that something that burns & itches for 3-4 days afterward just can't be good for me.

I'm due to get my hair colored but have decided to let my salt-and-pepper hair grow out.

Hi, I read alot on this site but usually don't have a lot of info to share. But on this I do! My rheumy told me to stop coloring my hair- there is a link to an ingredient called amine and autoimmune reactions.. or something similar to that. The irony is I am a hairdresser and have been for almost 30 years. So now I do wear gloves all the time no matter what chemical I am touching- perms or color. You can still color your hair if you have it foiled with color or through a highlighting cap- you can use either color or bleach(for blonde). as long as it stays off of your skin. Hi Boston,

I am the same age you are and 5 years ago I had to stop using hair dye. I was determined to find something so I went to the health food store and found Henna. It has been my choice ever since. Plaquenil makes my hair uneven in color with the sun and I have grey too. There is one you can use first strictly for grey, then about a week later I use the color I like. I have had great results, no more burning of scalp and it lasts me longer.

When rinsing it out it can be tricky but use baking soda and it helps to get the rest out. There are some good websites on it if you google it.

I know you may have to wait a bit after regular dye but maybe Anne that answered will have some good suggestions.
