I am currently on Plaquenil and a medrol dose pack. I took my last steroid pill today. I have the worse headcold possible and it seems to be getting worse possibly turning to sinus infection. I am not sure what cold medicines can be taken with these drugs and my doctors and pharmacy are closed. I have Mixed connective tissue disease....diagnoses for about 8 months...so still learning. My mom is wanting me to rush off to doctors right away and keeps telling me I am just going to get sicker because my immune system wont fight the cold off. I am clueless as I haven't even been on Plaquenil two months yet. Helppppp

Hi Lori, call any walgreens pharmacy. look for an 800 # online if you don't have one close. They are open 24/7. any pharmacist can help you. Also when you have an auto immune disease you do need to see a doctor when you get sick. Your mother is right. You can't really put off seing a doctor and hope for the best.

Okie is right, the prednisone also will inhibit your ability to fight off infection. Take care and try to get some rest. Chicken soup and hot tea!! Take care.

Hi Lori, Just wondering if you got a holdof your doctor today? This weekend is a big holiday and no one will be around. My doc left town yesterday and won't be back until Tuesday. I've been thinking about you and hoping you found some relief. Those sinus infections can be so incredibly miserable. Take care of yourself.

Well I ended up in the hospital. First the headcold then larengitus. Next thing I started coughing like a child with croup...all barnyard. An hour later I couldn't breathe. So I went to the er cuz I was panicky because I could feel it Closing. They gave me yet another x-ray and they found that my traechia (mispell I'm sure!) Was inflammed and closing off. So I get a hospital stay..some epinephrine Med followed by steroid shot. Tommorow I should go home with a steroid medrol dose pack. So buggered as I was finally off steroids. Oh did I mention my husband is out of Town and still unreachable!

Lori. I hope you feel better soon, but I'm so glad you didn't wait to get treatment. It sounds like you really made the right decision. Take care and get some rest.

That must be so hard not to get ahold of your husband. I fret when I cant get ahold of my finacee. If there is anything anyone of us can do, please let us know. I know I feel like this group is my "extended" family, and I am sure others feel like its their family too. I'm so glad you noticed your airway closing and realized it wasn't a game and saught medical attention. Thoughts and prayers for a speedy recovery hon. Hang in there!
