Time lines for SSD vary widely from state to state, county to county. Your best bet is to call your local SS office and ask about the delays or average times in your area.

In my case it took almost 3 years to get to a hearing, the decision was made & delivered within about 6 weeks, and regular payment started quickly after that. The back payment from the almost-3-yr delay took about 8 months to arrive. At least at that point I knew the funds were coming so getting a loan didn't cause as much stress as it would have otherwise.

Yeah, it takes a while for the "real" information to move thru the system. Sounds like things are in the works and you just have to wait for all the paperwork to be finished and arrive in the mail.

Patience can be so hard to come by!!

hi there...there is no harm in calling your local ssi office repeatedly, if necessary, to get the ball rolling...you don't have to wait for "the letter." i knew threw my atty before i got the letter and they were glad i called and hurried the process along to get my payments to me. my atty made sure that i understood that a judgment had been rendered in my favor and i had the right to request that my payments get made as expediciously as possible...to expect that they would do it was really silly!! what i am saying is...don't sit on your hands, this is important because they won't do it for you...make the calls, request the paperwork, etc...walk into the ssi office if necessary (i assume you didnt hire an atty). if this is a permanent disability case for you then you do have back payments??? they will have to go over your income from the date you filed your claim, etc and that will take a few mos to process...you want to get this going asap. if there is no 'retro' claim then it will be a lot simpler and quicker to process. good luck!!

you're welcome but i don't know that i was helpful :(...i know it is a frustrating ordeal which is why i got an atty.  from the time i hired him, it took a year and we were in court, i had my judgment, was receiving payments in 16 mos...AND he got me retro from the time i had tried myself and got denied but i didn't follow through with the appeals process in the time allotted...it was well worth his one third (to me).  i didn't have the energy to fight that battle myself so i applaud your efforts.  don't give up...bella

I AM GETTING SO FRUSTRATED WITH THE SOCIAL SECURITY OFFICE. I CALLED TODAY TO FIND OUT THE STATUS OF MY CASE IN THEIR OFFICE AND THEY ARE CLUELESS. THEY TOLD ME THAT JACKSON WOULD SEND ME A LETTER TO INFORM ME OF THE DECISION AND I TOLD HER THAT I HAD SPOKEN WITH JACKSON AND THEY SAID THEY SENT THE INFORMATION TO THEM AND THEY WOULD LET ME KNOW THE STATUS. WHY IS THAT SO HARD TO UNDERSTAND. SHE THEN SAID THAT JACKSON WILL SEND THE INFORMATION ELECTRONICALLY AND IT TAKES 3-4 BUSINESS DAYS TO REACH THEM. WHAT'S REALLY GOING ON?

Please take a deep breath and concentrate on something else. It will come through the system and eventually arrive in the mail.

Talking to 3 different people will just get you 3 different "best guesses". You've posted about this 6 times in only 3 days, 2 of which were not working days for SS! Your case is most certainly in the system, and waiting in a list or a pile behind the other requests that came first. They will get to you asap. And, unfortunately, the more time they spend on the phone the less time they have to process all the claims.

I don't mean to be harsh. I know it's hard to wait but you can easily aggravate your symptoms by obsessing about it and increasing your stress.

Pray, meditate, watch mind-numbing tv, read a book, go to the park, anything to redirect your energy!

I just wanted to say, i agree with Lynnwood. It will come throught the system and eventually in the mail.

i know it is frustrating. but it will happen. (the same thing happened to me........and IT CAME) : ) !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

i have been getting SSI now for almost a year and a half. it took 3 years for them to make the decision.

but my point is this, SSI STILL makes mistakes every month practicly. i don't even bother opening most of their mail. bc thus far......SSI and SSD are not on the same page.

yet practicly every month AND when i finally started getting them, it all worked/works out.

if i call one office, the other has no idea what is going on. and then when i ask "i just got a letter stating you were going to take money away from me?????"

they say, "ooohhhhh..............don't worry about that letter, just throw it out???????????????????"

sssoooooooo.........point being, at the end it ALWAYS works out.

the only thing i wish i do differently almost everytime i end up stressing about it again, is wishing i had never stressed to begin with. (my body would have been and continues to work much better, breathing, praying or watching a movie)

worrying only seems to create a false sense of security and a more aggressive immune system. (none of us need either)
