nagging sore throat

I've had sle for about 5 yrs. I have been on prednisone among others for approx. 4 wks. I have developed a nagging sore throat. Not to where I can't swallow or anything but just aching and nagging. The sore throat has been here for approx. 2 wks maybe a little longer. Has anyone had a problem with this?

Welcome to our forum Sonyalee. Prednisone can make a person be susceptible to infections such as colds, but one of the signs of an allergic reaction to pred is swelling of the throat. Since you haven't been taking pred that long, I suggest you contact your doc. Please let us know what he says, okay? Love, Butterflake

Welcome and I am glad you found us. I have been on prednisone way too long and it can really hide signs of a serious infection and compromise how our body fights one off. I vote call your primary doc. Every time I have had a nagging sore throat, it turned out to be strep. Watch out for signs of a fever, above the kind many of us suffer at night. Keep us posted, we do worry about each other,

Hi Sonyalee, one thing you can do for a sore throat is take a spoonful of honey and slowly swallow it. Honey is a natural antiseptic and its consistency is allows it to coat your throat. It works for burns and wounds as well.
