Just an update

Hi all,

I haven't posted in awhile so I thought I’d just give you all an update. Well what ever it is I have is progressing affecting my eyes, ears, jaw and temples. For those that don’t know I have joint pain and tendinitis in all major joints and most others with major muscles pain. Now I’m getting some blurred vision, ringing in my right ear, jaw pain and tendinitis and pain in my temples.

ANA is all over the place and high 1:1280, positive Anti-ds DNA 1:640, CRP and ESR remain high. My doctor and all the specialists are stumped. So I’ll just carry on managing the symptoms the best I can.

On a more optimistic note I have been fight to get an accommodation so I may return to work for just over a year now and I have a final meeting to set the terms in a week or so. I am no longer able to do my former job as a marine engine mechanic on large ferries. I have worked out a more sedentary job that I should be able to do. I know it’ll be difficult, but I’m hoping to work for 5 – 10 years if possible. If not well it is what it is and work will be out of the question, but at least I’ll have given it my best shot.

Hi Bryan. I'm sorry you feel so awful and still don't have a diagnosis. It seems with your positive blood tests and symptoms the docs could arrive at something.

I had to get a sedentary job with accomodations in 2005, but I had to go on disability in 2008. I hope you can get the accomodations you want. Good luck! Butterflake

I start back to work Monday on my accommodation.

Thanks Fran I believe a positive attitude helps in feeling better. By the way I finished my two weeks of Graduated Return to Work 4 hours for the first week and 6 hours for the second week. Next week I start full 8 hour days. It's going as well as can be expected I've been pretty sore and rather worn out, but I'm enjoying being back to work. What doesn't kill you only makes you stronger or as my dad would say "just walk it off" (which I did with a broken ankle as a kid I played hockey on it too) we just laugh about that now.
