Benlysta

Hi,
I know this topic has probably been covered, but after searching for a while I'm reading conflicting information and thought I would just ask. I'm new to Lupus, my wife has not yet been diagnosed, but it seems very likely as she has shown many of the symptoms over the past few years, and after a recent weird rash and eye inflammation, her doctor has finally brought it up and sent her for more tests. She's very strong and this hasn't seemed to phase her in the least, at least outwardly, but it has for me because I love her very much.

So my question, does anyone have current information on Benlysta, is it still on track to be approved by the end of this year?

I've read great things about it, and bad things, the bad thing being that it has shown that it seems to loose it's effectiveness after about 18 months of use. Is this true? Does anyone have more information about it's effectiveness in clinical trials?

I attended a lupus conference this past weekend and Benlysta Briefly came up! It was brougth up by a DR at Duke University's Lupus clinic and she said the studies she has saw "has been great around the board for treating lupus"! That is about all that was mentioned about it but I do know she is looking forward to the FDA approval of it :)!

I saw my rheumy last week and asked about Benalysta specifically... he said it was not going to be a viable option in the foreseeable future and we shouldn't hold out hope for it. If it comes through anytime soon, it will be a miracle. Keep your fingers crossed that Big Pharma delivers more than just a paycheck for itself...
