medication for raynaud's

Hi all,

I've been taking nifedipine (procardia) for my raynaud's for the past week, and I have to share that this drug works great.  I still get cold and have to dress very warmly (usually in layers), but I do not have any raynaud's attacks while on this med.  Before I was getting 3-5 a day, sometimes more depending on the temperature outside.  My fingertips were always swollen and my fingers were like ice.  I wasn't real thrilled about taking yet another drug, but this one is worth it.

That is great news! It's nice to know when a med works well! I have raynaud's but it's not bad enough to require meds, thankfully! Thank you for sharing this great news with us! Take care

I also took Nifedipine for Raynaud's and it caused my blood pressure to drop pretty severely... dizziness and partial/full loss of vision every time I stood up. Rheumy reduced my dosage and that helped with the faint spells but then my Raynaud's flared up again. I stopped taking the med completely when it got warm enough outside that my fingers weren't cold all the time.

So... lesser of two evils? Meh.

Anybody else have suggestions on medications for Raynaud's? I'm scared because it's starting to get cold and that makes my fingers so much worse. I'm taking Pentoxifylline (also called Trental) but I don't really know how much it's helping though, been taking it for a year.
