Hi all I was just woundering if anyone is talkinf Lyrica ( soorry spelling) My rheumy put me on it today for mt fribro pain because the nuronton it not working, plus he put me on prednisone again and uped my doasage of methotrexate, was woundering if anyone has had weird sides affects takeing all of these together?

I have tried Lyrica, with results that were not good. The first time I felt very strange, and in talking to someone they told me if they didn't know me better they would of thought I was drunk, and I was at work. I talked to my Rhumey and she took me off the Lyrica. Then I moved, the new doctor wanted me to try the Lyrica again, I did. The first day after started to take it I felt drunk and fell twice. There was also no relief for my pain. Needless to say, I do not take Lyrica. I pray it helps you feel better.

I had taken it for almost two years.  I used it to treat my nerve pain. It worked pretty good for me.  I only experienced drowsiness initially, but as my dosage went down, I don't have any drowsiness anymore.  I don't have any sign effects.

I am so glad to hear Lyrica has been able to help you.

Just because the Lyrica didn't help me does not mean it won't help you like it does Omega.
I think it is important to give any new medicine a chance. Everyone's reactions to medicines are different. God Bless You Both.

Thanks Leilasmom and Omega for your input, Leilasmom I am sorry to hear that it did not work for you. I think I have been lucky that I havent really had any bad side effects, just some drowsiness and feel a lil dizzy but nothing that I could not handle, I know meds affect everyone differently :) so far it has helped with my pain so I am keeping hopeful, PLus my doc said it helps with seizures and I have them to so I feel like I am killing to birds with one stone, 2 for 1 LOL!
I hope you have found something to ease your pain, I know how difficult that can be.

I was on lyrica and I put 50 pounds on in 3 months.I was a trainer,so I know it was the lyrica-although I might have gained 10 without it.Now they want me to do cardio,and I cant hardly move and short of breath.

Hi Shoeless that is one of my concerns I have lost some weight and then I get put on it and I see it can be a side effect and with all this cold weather here in Michigan I have not been able to walk like I used to so I am praying I dont put on 50 lbs. What mgs where you on? I am on 50mgs twice a day, so I am hoping it is a low enough dose. I was on a low dose of pred and didnt gain but then again I was working out alo. Did your doctor say the 50lbs gain was normal? are'nt they concerned with your shortness of breath? I would think shortness of breath might out weight the benifits of the Lyrica, but then again I dont know, Like I said I just started it. God bless

It packs the weight on..Ive been in other forums,and they have had the same problem.I was on 300mg 3 times a day...but that was after they had increased it.Ive been off it for 9 months now.but I cant seem to shake the weight thing...Im not obese...I hold it well....and I had shortness of breath before that,it just has gotten worse.The other nite,my heart was pounding so hard it woke me at 330 in the morning..very scary.Few years ago they said I have a heart murmur,,but its in tyhe lower area of the heart.But the docs are ignoring everything.Sometimes I think they just want me to die...then it will save the health care system money.I dunno anymore.

lyrica is an anti-convulsive...personally I would stay away from it.But thats everyones choice,just really research it first.

HI Shoeless, That was avery high mgl they had you on, I am sorry to hear you have had such problems. If you feel your Doctor wont take you seriously, its time to find a new Doctor. I am going through the same thing with my doc and there is nothing wrong with finding a doctor who will take you seriously, accually my primary That I have right now sucks and I am looking for a different Doctor, I can relate, I had an appt 2 weeks ago and broke down in his office which I have never done, because if everything I have not been feeling well at all, He would not even look at me and just walked out of the room and the nurse came in and discharged me, not to mention when I told him what was going on with my LUpus and seizures he would dissmiss me and say You have to take that up with your nuro and rhumy,( hence another reason I am on Lyrica) I would think then to myself " why the hell am I even here to see you, seemed all he wanted from me was my co-pay $ there are good doctors out there I had one before I moved and I loved him he was great and if I had not moved over an hour away and needed to be driven everywhere I would make the trip to see him because he was worth it, so my advice to you is absoulutly do not let your doctors or doctor make you feel that way like your a burden, it is there job to be there there for you and help you when you are sick and some are better at it then others. have hope, I know its hard and sometimes you feel down right cheated, by the disease and the way it effects your life and not having a support system within your doctors office, unfortunetly a lot of these docs are out to make a buck and could careless about their patients. A heart murmur is nothing to mess around with, I have had the same thing and NO doctor should dissmiss that. I hope things get better for you, keep hope and God bless you!

hey Kat.Its a wonder theres not more shooters out there attackin their docs eh?just makin supper,cut my finger the other day on a can,went to the hospital and sat over 3 hours .this baby was screamin,and it musta been only a couple weeks old...the parents were freakin out-finally I asked the triage nurse"ya think Im gunna need stitches"she said at least a couple,but I said Im goin home.so I stopped at the drug store,and my daughter fixed me up using steri-strips,but now I cant get them off.thinkinI should clean the stupid thing,its a flap cut so I dont want it to come off too soon.Hubby said I cant use the can opener anymore.wish he said that about the vaccuum.humph.

Shoeless, sorry to hear of your ER ordeal and Ouch! hope your finger feels better soon! You are too funny, hey maybe you should take out your toe with the vaccum cleaner and then maybe your Hubby will then tell you to stay away from that too! Maybe if you went to the ER with a vaccume cleaner stuck to your toe that would trump the bloody finger, hey you never know in those places. Take care of yourself and for hevens sake STAY AWAY FROM SHARP OBJECTS! Lol!

ya,I think Id have to vaccuum even if I had no hands.I have steri-strips on it,after I cleaned it I put fresh ones on.....but I bump the frickin thing and wow-wow-wee-wow!Whats up with you Kat?you got kids?have you finished your shopping yet?

Hey shoeless, No kids for me i guess it was not in the cards for me. and I am done with shopping how about you? I cant wait for it to be hear and then gone. everyone keep asking me what I want for christmas and I say the same thing every time, I just want my family and I to be healthy and happy, Is that asking too much? I dont think so ,but its nothin anyone can give me but God. Have you finished up your christmas shopping? It will be here before we know it.
I know you could ask for, a full body cast that way you would not have to worry about bumping anything,Lol! Sorry had to say it. where abouts are you from?

ya,I got 2 girls,one 23 and one 26.they steal my stuff....and make fun of me.they said theyre gunna tie me to the rail at the nursing home.bad ones.I love them to peices-but they were sure a handfull in the teenage years.they have been there for me thru all the weird meds,lyrica,and all my trips.my hubby is very patient with me,but its really gets depressing bein sick...sick of bein sick.wanna go to the gym and have a good high intensity workout,then pump so iron...yyyyyyeaaaaaaaaaa baby!!!those were the days.ahhhhhhhhhhhhh--well at least Im not dead.got almpost all my shopppin done ,as theres only4 of us.my mom and dad are gone so..ya.

...I have 3 little shihtzu dogs.theyre my babies.who needs a blanket when ya got 3 hairballs?my sis cant have kids...but you know God knows whats best for us.He knows when we're gunna trip up so,he takes us away from some things.like my mind for example.hehe

LOL! your daughters sound great, I bet they got there sense of humor from you,your too funny! I can relate to sick and tired of always being sick and tired. My husband and I seperated over 6 months ago he calls every once in a while to check up on me, I just think my Illness got to be too much for him, I really dont blame him, some people just cant handle sick people. This forum has really helped me to not feel so alone, with talking to nice people like you that can relate.
Because I sure feel alone sometimes. I have a lil bird he is my baby. I used to have 2 rabbits one passed she was 13 and the other one I had to find a new home for once I seperated from my hubby because my family is allergic to rabbits it broke my heart, but my vet took him home to her family so I know he will be well cared for. so they kept me warm as well :) they were my fuzzy babies. I wish I could work out too, I tryed doing the wii dance a couple of days ago and it put me out of commission for 2 days, and I am not completely out of shape. darn Lupus and fibro. I am glad to hear you have such a supportive family it really helps. Where abouts do you hail from shoelss? are you fighting the cold weather? if so stay warm with your lil pups. and good luck with the rest of your shopping!

Im in Ontario,canada...near toronto.yeah,we got quite abit of snow here,not as much as buffalo but enough.We have a bunnie too!shes white with blue eyes,shes a lionhead,so shes really fluffy..call her coco,,as in chanel.kinda looks like she should have a diamong necklace on er somethin.sorry to haer about your ex-its hard to make and deal with the big change even we have a hard time eh?Oh yea,I forgot to tell you about the sexy mask I wear at nite-c-pap.its like a scuba divin,but in the blankets.I hate it,but they say I could have a heart attack without it.I think theyre frikin crazy,but I wear it,sometimes only 3 hours then I rip it off.sleep clinic said Im only sleepin like 2 hours a nite.nut-heads.I was wondering about the wii.....guess ya gotta get up tho rite? nah,that wont work.maybe if I was hyponotized er somethin.I think God just wants me to lean on Him,bottom line.people have said"you beleive in healing rite?"and I say'YA WELL,WE'RE STILL IN A FALLEN WORLD BUB"-idiots,God bless em.

Hi Kat,

I take Lyrica plus Cymbalta for my fibromyalgia pain. It seems to help, although I also take Dilaudid for pain (Dilaudid is a narcotic). I try to only take one Dilaudid a day although I'm allowed up to 4 (one every 6 hours) because I'm afraid of getting hooked on it.

I did gain 100 pounds in a year after I was put on Lyrica, Cymbalta, and prednisone (my initial prednisone dose was 40 mg per day, but it's down to 5 mg now).

I've been able to lose 18 pounds in 3 months on a low-carb, "Paleo" diet. But it's not easy! :(

Awwww Shoeless what is your bunnies name? she sounds so beautiful! My Lil guy was a white angora ( not a lion head ) and he had redish brown eyes. I just got a call from the woman who took him for me today and she said he is doing great and welled Loved that makes me so happy, but still miss him :( And hey I sleep with the same sexy mask, or at least I am supposed to I have lesions on my face and nose which makes wearing the mask painfull, so I have a derma appt tommorw so hopefull I can get back to waring it because they said the same thing re heart attacks kinda scary! and I have not worn it in over 6 months! My bad! When I was married I would lay in bed at night with it and breath out my mouth on purpose, my hubby would say I sounded like Darth Vader, it got a couple of good laughs! I have family in canada beautiful area. I think my hope of meeting a guy is shot now because I am gaining weight, moody, skin all messed up poppin pills like there going out of style and have that beautiful face mask to wear at night, I am a nightmare! unless I meet someone who is a freak, or doesnt mind dateing someone who looks like one, Lol! and I love your motto! so true! so true!

Hey Nasalady Thanks for the feed back, my doc also said he wanted to put me on Cymbalta but then he decided against it said I was already talking to many meds he wants to wait. I have already started to noticed the weight gain and I am not happy about it, call it vanity but I want to stop it, I am getting back fat and I never had that before I was like really you can get fat on your back. When I was on pred I lost weight or stayed the same never gained and I was worried about gaining on that , but never did, wish I didnt on the Lyrica. weird huh?! How high a dose of Lyrica where you on? I noticed you have Lyme disease on you post That must be hard I am sorry, my sister in law has it and I seen what she went through, it must be tough.Good luck to you too!

hey Nasa!just watch ya dont boomerang back to the old weight and more...Ive seen alot of people to just that.It seems the only real way is low carb,supplements and exercise...so that counts me out!ha!

awwww a posh bun bun, how cute.  I get that our beauty is suppose to come from the inside, but latley the guys i have been meeting are really shalow, more about the outer apperance and for get it if you happend to put on  a couple of extra prounds then you are not there type, nobdy ever wants to get to know someone from the inside out anymore, and girl let me tell you I dont care if a man is smoking hot but if he has a crappy personality he is ugly to the bone and that wont change. I figure if I can over look things when cant they? oh well, I will just grow old and become the crazie rabbit and bird lady. You are so lucky to have a hubby to help you through this and except you for who you truly are. Funny thing my parents are going to a white elephant party and they need to bring a re-gift my Dad said they were going to bring me, nice.. I told them not to bother because they would probably just get me back next year, LOL!
