ello Folks
I wanted to get some peoples perspective on this, as I feel strongly I have SLE, as also suggested by another physician that I spoke with about 5 days ago. I am getting real worried as I feel it is progressing rather quickly, and my HMO is taking their sweet time.
BTW I am a mid twenties Male

here is some of my history

2x Thrombosis (first resulted after knee injury and became a PE second resulted after knee surgery)

Unnatural frontal mid, sideburn, and inner eyebrow (towards nose) hairloss (totally not MPB style, it began as a small bald spot right on the front middle tip of my hairline, now recently expanding inwards in a unsymmetrical pattern)

Ringing ears (both ears, comes and goes random times, has been increasing in frequency and intensity recently)

Palpitations (random times during the day)

Weakness and fatigue, mainly in the afternoon/evening

Foggy memory, forgetful, even my coworkers notice this

increased episodes of ants crawling feeling in limbs and some numbness flashes, and stinging feelings

Muscle pain, mainly near my buttox and rear thigh region, alternates between legs and does not improve with rest

very rarely I will get a few raised white bumps that itch like crazy, few in number, and disappear rather quickly

Let me know, any advice would be greatly appreciated!

Hi woldinsideme,

Im new here too...I cant help you much as i have not been diagnosed yet and am not sure if I have Lupus or not but im sure what im experiencing is autoimmune in nature, from the way my symptoms are progressing. I can relate to alot of your symptoms. Im female, 28.

Has your doc tested your ANA? Ran some bloodwork? Mine was negative for lupus (GP tests)...but as you can read here on this forum...there are a minority with negative blood results and who still have Lupus or another AI disease. Thats why Ive been referred to a rheumatologist. The fatigue and joint/muscle pain is whats worst for me at the moment.

Theres a criteria list of 11 symptoms that docs look for when diagnosing Lupus...have a look on www.lupus.org. see if you can relate to any. They say 4 out of 11 should warrant a diagnosis..usually with rashes and positive bloodwork being some, from what I can see.

Im sure someone more knowledgeable will be along soon with some good advice.

This sounds like siatitic (sp?). A nerve in your lower back is irritated and causing the pain.

The tinnitis, ringing in the ears.. are you on any medications? that is a common symptom of some meds. and migraine headaches. Hope you get answers soon all of you.

Visit did not go well
I am not sure why but he just dismissed me and said I have anxiety
problem is I just had a major infection (sinus, throat, ear) with Antibiotics and my condition has flared
I now experience really bad palpitations and general fatigue /weakness with pain occasionally radiating to my left shoulder/arm

I have no clue what to do, the palpitations are affecting my sleep. I think I need to go to the ER, but even then, what can I tell them?

As odd as it sounds, palpitations can sometimes be caused by esophageal reflux, or GERD. You mention being on a recent course of antibiotics. Could there be a connection with a stomach/acid issue? Do you notice heartburn or belching with reflux? This could worsen when laying flat.
The palpitations should be evaluated - especially with fatigue, weakness and left arm pain. If you need the ER for that - then go. You simply tell them about those things - go when it's happening - and let them evaluate!

thing is it does worsen when laying flat, but I do not have any acid reflux either
A similar thing happened to me after getting malaria
