plaquenil - lenght of use

Hi all - I would like to hear from people who have used plaquenil - Hydroxychloroquine for  a long period of time. I have been on plaquenil for 10 years now for Lupus and my Rhmy is not worried but my opthamologists is - I am kinda stuck  so any expereiences, sugestions or ideas would help me make a decision to carry on with meds or change.

I was on plaq for a year..not a terribly long time, but I did have vision issues which were discovered during the testing that is done for those who are plaq..My right eye was affected and I had to discontinue use. It is really critical to get that baseline exam before even starting so that it can be determend if the issues that arise are really caused by the plaq OR something else! I really miss taking it and have not found any other medication that works as well.

Thanks for replies. I visited my GP today and we discussed decreasing the dosage, I am happy with this. I am required to have eye checks every 6 months so will keep those up too.
