i dont understand my ANA reults .

Hello, im a 46 year old female that for the last several months have found myself having extreme fatigue and just an over all feeling of malice,sore joints,muscle pain,and i battle sleepiness constantly. I hesitently went to my GP and explained this to her. She did an ANA test along with CBC and a reumatoid arthritus test. My platelet count was 115,000 and my ANA was speckled rim pattern my rhumatoid came back negative. GP said i need a rheumatologist. She said i have a lengthy wait and not to be really concerend about it. 

I am way past concerned here. I feel in my body that something is just not rite. Can anyone help with understanding my ANA and i wonder if my doctor would be concerned if these were her lab results. I felt as if i was a bother to my doctor with my complaints. She was in a hurry and rushed me out without the anwers i so needed to at least help me cope with my body going nutso!

Any input would be greatly appriciated. Thanks a bunch  smhair

Go back to her and ask for something for the pain and sleepiness while you wait to see the rheumy. Meanwhile, call the Rheumy and ask if you can get on the "call if there's a canncellation" list.

Did your doctor mention the titers on your ANA?

Limbo is aggrevating while you wait for a solid diagnosis. Try to hang on while you wait. Feel free to come back here to vent and ask questions.

it is 1:640 speckled rim pattern.

is my ANA A high positive? Also got a call from my GP yesterday telling me my D Dimer is very elevated. Iv know idea why due to having 2 ultra sounds on my legs & no clots were found. No trouble breathing or any visible clots. im a bit freaked out. Going for another doctor visit today with my GP. No doubt ill have more blood drawn. 2 d dimer test in a month with no sign of clots (visible) and both elevated....SO IRRITATED AS IT SEEMS MY DOCTOE JUST DOES HER ROUTINE WITH ME AND STILL NO ANSWERS!!!!!!!!! Ughhhhhh im concerned and so irritated

I also don't understand my husband ANA results. His ANA is 1:160 with a speckled pattern. All his other bloodwork was normal. His niece has lupus. He has severe joint pain, dry eyes, been having chest pains and is tired. He recently broke out in sores that his family doctor said was ringworm but I have read that there is a rash that looks alot like ringworm but it associated with lupus. He seen a rheum doctor last week but that was joke. He didn't want to discuss anything. He isnt himself. His joints are his biggest complaint. But the rash he recently is bothering him now too. His Lyme test is also negative. Should we seek a second opinion?? I feel like the doctors just brush it under the rug. It is very irritating. In Jan he was told he had osteoarthritis but that was before the elevated ANA. And from what I read osteoarthritis wont give a person a elevated ANA. I really could use some advice.

Hello, im sorry to here your husband is seemingly going through what i am. However i have not ever had a rash of any kind anywhere on my body. I was told by my GP that rhematoid and any other type of arthritus will not elevate an ANA test. Did the rheumy suggest lupus to your husband.? I have extreme fatigue to the point i litterally feel i can not get up to do the simplest of tasks. Chest pains for me come and go as the lining of my lungs are inflamed. I will not stop until i get answers i so desperatley need. I have not been diagnosed with LUPUS as of yet. I know i have it,all my symptoms as well my labs point in that direction . I just want doctors to realize we as people know our own bodies better than they do. I am scheduled to see a rheumy in the near future. I would encourage you to not give up on a solid diagnosis. I wont give up. Something is not rite in me and i know it!

Hi there...My ana has never gone over 360. and I was told by my rhuemy when you have inflammation going on in your body it can cuase a abnormal dimer test. I have had 4 postive D Dimers and never have had a clot.

He told my husband no sign of lupus. Then why is his ANA elevated. Why does he have the joint pain? And with his niece having that ups his chances from what I read. I hear alot of ppl talk about a GP what is a GP? I also read that sometimes cancer can elevated you ANA did you ever hear that?
